Product Description

Product Description

A respected astronomer and physicist, Sagan was a keen promoter of the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). World-famous for his popular non-fiction and science fiction works, he was perhaps best known for his celebrated TV series "Cosmos". Through his writings and spoken commentary, he worked to popularize interests in astronomy, the universe, and the possibility of extraterrestrial life. This interest was rooted in his understanding of the smallness and vulnerability of humanity measured against the immense size and power of the universe. This profound philosophical humility, mixed with personal exuberance, comes though in "Conversations with Carl Sagan", in which he discusses a wide variety of topics - the environment, nuclear disarmament, religion, politics, extraterrestrial life, astronomy, physics, robotics, and more.

5.0 out of 5 stars An insight into a beautiful mind, 21 April 2008
By Wordy (Scotland) - See all my reviews
Carl Sagan will always be remembered for his magnificent television show, Cosmos, in which the likeable scientist communicated the wonders of the universe with a passion and clarity that made science accessible to all.

However, he was more than the front of a popular science show; he was a man of extraordinary intellect with deep concerns about the future of the human race.

This book is a collection of interviews, ranging from 1973 up until his death in 1996, in which Dr. Sagan shares his hopes and fears for humanity with subjects ranging from destroying ourselves due to our own ignorance to communicating with extra terrestrial civilizations.

There are insights into the man not available in any of the books he authored and his passion for humanity and it's advancement are evident.

Anyone familiar with Sagan's work should buy this book.
