This unit is totally useless! It doesnt really cool the air at all, just blows it around a bit- not that you would even notice that if you are more than 2 feet away from it! Its been on for a few hours on full (set up with a window behind and opposite a door as per the instructions) and its still boiling hot in here, with just a bit of hot air being blown around. Also having to constantly fill the 13 litre water tank is a nightmare! (unless you have an indoor hose pipe or something). Wish I had bought something like the Alaskan 15000BTU instead.

This air cooler is very effective and uses evaporation (rather than a compressor) to cool your room. Although it doesn't need a vent hose you do need to be able to allow the air to circulate by having open windows/doors into the room being cooled. The fan although not silent is quiet with 3 settings and the evaporation (cooling) facility is regulated by controlling the flow of water behind the fan - an added benefit being the soothing sound of flowing water. It isn't particulary compact but it is well made and very effective providing you allow the circulation of air through the room to be cooled (if you do not it gets humid). Certainly recommended for the inevitable heat of summer.

This unit is what is known as an Evaporative cooler. It works by cooling by evaporation. It therefore works best when humidity is 0 is it increases the humidity of the air. In a humid environment this type of unit does not perfom well and a type of air conditioning unit is required that chills the air through refrigeration.

It's a lot of money for what it is but it does the job and is very economical to run...

not as good as acompressor air con
Disappointed as only works on evaporation process so no good in hot and humid conditions, also needs constant filling up of water with most awkward inlet
