Product Description

Grammy 2015 Nominee UK producer Daniel Boyle lovingly recreated the original set up of Black Ark studios by collecting all the original equipment used by Lee Perry back in the day, and rebuilding Black Ark in his own London studio. Hearing of this, Lee Scratch Perry couldn t resist a visit to London, and the resulting sessions that reunited The Upsetter with his original recording set up was the blueprint for this brand new album project. Review

Lee Scratch Perry Is 'Back on the Controls' in Roots Reggae Return! .....If I pulled the plug, just like that, then snap!, the entire universe could disappear,... famed reggae producer Lee Scratch Perry tells Rolling Stone. ...But then it would be on my conscience.I was sent here to make people happy - but repentance is coming.... Repentance refers to Repent, one of the lead tracks from Perry's upcoming album, Lee Scratch Perry Back on the Controls. Rolling Stone online Dec 2013 --Rolling Stone online Dec 2013

an excellent set of rootsy reggae , somewhat let down by the decision to have lee perry "sing" on all selections . i was imagining how good it would have been if they had given , say , the congos the vocal job .Nice but could have been better, as it is i only listen to the dubs , which are heavier than mr. Perry,s 1970,s output , more akin to the kind of heavy tunes we used to hear at Shaka .

This record is right up there with the best of the Black Ark era! Recorded with original 70's gear, Dan Boyle and Lee have created a classic, twelve superb tracks, each with its awesome dub version. Any fan of the Upsetter will love this record. The CD digipak packaging is just as well produced as the music making the whole thing something special!

Back to the mechanics of dub, thought he had lost his way a bit with the Orb, on paper it should have been righteous but it seemed two immovable forces colliding.
This album is magnificat a true tour de force.
