Wow--totally submission!, 20 Nov 2006
In this BDSM novel, the main character totally submerges herself into the world of submission and dominace. She is willing to do anything to be enslaved and controlled. Some of it reminded me of "Story of O", yet it wasn't so over the top or cringy. All in all, it's a good read for this genre. In addition, I recommend "Story of O" and "Breaking the Girl".

For those who want to know that 'everything's under control ... !!', 24 Jul 2008
Having recently read (and loved!) 'Penny in Harness,' I was eager to find more books on pony play, and was therefore drawn to this book for the fact that the main character (Cat) would at some point find herself in full time training to be a pony girl ... Although I enjoyed both books, the two are very different, for in 'Controlling Catherine,' Cat experiences total domination as a way of life, (therefore be warned, the occasional enema is inevitable!) and as such, her pony girl activities are mainly related to training and display (in contrast to the exuberance, energy and fun of role-playing ponies in Penny Birch's novel) - Ooh, but you'll definitely find yourself warming to Cat's stable yard experiences! (In more ways than one!)
'Controlling Catherine' is a hot read (and I do mean hot!) about a girl's journey to accept her submissive side. Along the way she is dominated by several different Masters, to whom she learns to surrender herself (Finding that she ultimately desires this as much as they require it!)
As Cat explores this latent side of her personality, she experiences some mind-blowingly fantastic moments of complete submission, (often involving quite a bit of enjoyably restrictive bondage!) that will leave you squirming in delight as she is put in ever more deliciously humiliating positions ... mm! After one such incident, Cat writes:
QUOTE:
'That was the first time I became aware that words, previously negative, had become absolutely positive in a bizarre fashion. Degradation, humiliation, cruelty, shame, pain, submission, domination, all had become erotic in their own right.'
If those things aren't for you, I give you fair warning that you probably won't like what she experiences on her voyage of discovery - me, I loved it!!
I also loved the way book was written - with the main character sharing an account of how her life was changed for the better after a chance meeting with a dominant policeman called Nick. The reader is drawn into each and every experience through her richly detailed descriptions of the erotic torments she undergoes on her personal journey to discover what makes her truly happy.
Having become hooked on the book by some incredibly hot scenes early on, I must confess that I was a little disappointed as I continued to read, as it felt as though the story lost a little momentum; for, although the situations she found herself in got hotter and more intense, they seemed to get fewer and farther between!
Perhaps the reason there were not so many 'juicy bits' was because the scenes were interspersed with quite a lot of the character's thoughts. However, these definitely had their place, for they were important in adding realism to Cat's journey (and through them, the author definitely demonstrated an impressive knowledge and understanding of the whirlwind of emotions that such experiences would doubtless bring!) I just wish the book was longer than its 210 pages so as to have included even more of the author's erotic imaginings!
For me, the happy ending (for which there was quite a lot of build up to) was also a bit abrupt as the reader was left to imagine how the highly anticipated ending played out. Which is all well and good, but having been so turned on by the author's other imaginings, I was expecting a final scene with detailed description of the kind of fantastic domination which the character had already submitted to (and subsequently got off on!) so delightfully! But then, always leave them wanting more ... !!
Even on the strength of just one of the book's many sizzling scenes I would have recommended this hot little book! - Therefore as the rest was also well written and stimulating, (even if sometimes more thought-provoking than provocative!) then if the things you've read have pricked up your ears (and anything else for that matter!) then you really can't go wrong with this book - I know I didn't!!
