Jackie Leven recorded this album at the tender age of 21 (and under the alias of John St. Field, if all is to be believed); it didn't get a UK release until some years later, by which time Leven was ensconced in the very different musical milieu of Doll By Doll. This, however, is an amazing piece of work to come from such a fledgling talent and the production and arrangements totally belie their age. Hard to categorise it, but if you aim at folk with a touch of acid in the arrangements, you won't be far wrong. Definitely worth investigating this, as its the ideal introduction to Jackie Leven's formidable body of work.
