Product Description

Having resigned from the Police, largely as a result of the unbearable trauma arising from the case described in Nemesis (part one of the Angela Crossley Trilogy), Crossley is now an Associate Professor of Criminology. Still plagued by remorse and depression, the last thing she wants is to become embroiled in another deeply disturbing serial murder case. But when former colleague and old flame, Jim Robbins invites her to meet and announces, “Three women are missing. Young women. Late teens, early twenties…”, she can’t resist the challenge of the profiling job - especially when Robbins reveals that, again, the prime witness is an adolescent who appears to possess psychic powers, along with other sinister echoes of her past. Or is it Jim Robbins himself and the forlorn hope of finding her lost soul through love, that she can’t resist?

Either way, Crossley’s demons have come back to haunt her - and this time the psychic link with her young witness and with the murder victims is more powerful and more terrifying than ever. Hunting down a manifestation of evil that claws back at the darkest depths of her own sanity and feels so palpably close she can almost feel it breathe, Angela has everything to play for. And everything to lose.

In this, the second of the compellingly dark and deeply disturbing trilogy of Angela Crossley mysteries, Vincent Cobb again puts his heroine through a torturous and tortuous maze where physical savagery and psychic sensitivity meet with excruciatingly painful, yet utterly compelling consequences.

Good story but... 2 May 2011
By Angie
Format:Kindle Edition
The storyline for this novel kept me reading to the end, but it was sadly let down by some mistakes on the Kindle version. Odd spelling mistakes, a surname spelt in two different ways (annoying) and a lot of the lines of conversation were somehow spaced incorrectly. Call me pedantic, but it took away from the enjoyment of the story. It was also slightly irksome to read the unnecessary Mancunian dialect of one of the characters, and the awful assumption of the main character that the staple diet of 'Northerners' is pie and chips. I'd like to think this was tongue in cheek, but sadly I don't believe it was.

Graphic rape scene 8 Feb 2011
By Olga Bezhanova - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I think there should be some kind of warning that the book opens with a very graphic rape scene. The readers should be able to make an informed choice as to whether they want to be exposed to something like that. If you dont enjoy reading at length about women getting raped, don't get this book. It's unconscionable that some publishers care so little about readers' feelings. The book can be triggering for people who were victims of sexual violence.

Riveting stuff 12 Nov 2008
By Love Books - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Second in the Angela Crossley series this is a very hard hitting read - Cobb ratchets up the pace and the pain as Crossley is dragged unwillingly from semi retirement to face an evil few can imagine .

not for the faint hearted .......at all

but

Hugely enjoyable and well researched as always
