Very good, big improvement over the original which was fantastic anyway. this version solves some of the original, "given the opportunity I would have done that differently" problems. The main one being setting it up to record which involved turning it on and then a pause/ hold process prior to finally pushing record. Now it is all on one button, MUCH better. One possible problem is that you only have one battery, rechargeable where the previous model allowed you to change battery. Now you have to plan use to account for re-charge time !

Drift HD - Contour Roam - Go Pro Hero2 HD - I Have owned all three of these but have been disappointed. I really can't understand how they can justify these being Hi Definition when the video quality is not crisp in any of them. I do have high expectations and when a camera costs around £200 you want it to meet your requirements. Below is a small review of each.

Go Pro Hero2 HD - 1st best video quality

Pros:-
Better video quality but still not perfect
Photo quality was pretty decent
60 fps for slow motion

Cons:-
Sound quality is pretty poor
Case steams up (this is a known issue) I used whilst snowboarding and the case did this numerous times.
No playback screen
Changing settings it difficult without keeping instructions with you.
Fish eye lens (gives a slight curve effect) a con for me.
Sometimes when knocking the device the recording stopped itself.

Drift HD - 2nd best video quality - (be sure to update to latest firmware)

Pros:-
Visible Screen
Rugid Build
Change settings easily
Twistable Lens
Mini Hdmi Output
Option to add external microphone.
60 fps for slow motion
Low light option for video

Cons:-
Video quality is a bit blurry when in motion (not ideal if you're a snowboarder)
Picture quality is awful especially in low light - very grainy
Sound is very muffled even on highest sensitivity
Fish eye lens (gives a slight curve effect) a con for me.
4 x digital zoom also degraded video quality when used.

Contour Roam - 3rd best video quality

Pros:-
Excellent Build Quality, best of all 3
Lens is flat and gave a more realistic POV video.
1m waterproof without cases.

As with everybody who will have purchased this cam, it was a very close call between this one and the GoPro Hero HD. I had a previous generation GoPro (non HD) which was absolute rubbish - recorded when it felt like it, shocking battery life and fiddly controls. Needless to say, I wanted something significantly different.

However, in recent times it seems the GoPro has improved by a huge amount. Doing some research and side-by-side comparisons of the GoPro and Contour, I found that the Contour in fact gave a sharper, and better quality image, but the colours and contrast on the GoPro were much better; hence there is a trade off between the two.

Having plumbed for the Contour, I'm very glad I made this decision! Here are the positives and negatives;

+So easy to begin recording (one slide of a button)
+Good quality image
+Rotatable lens through 270 degrees
+Waterproof up to one meter!

-Poor sound quality
-Image can get a little choppy when mountain biking for example
-Lack of mounting choice (and very expensive mounts from Contour)

Overall I'd greatly recommend.

I recently purchased the Contour ROAM action camera and it was easy to mount onto my motorbike helmet and takes really amazing quality video for it's size. The recording angles are impressive and the low light recording is pretty good.

I bought this with High hopes of getting some great on motorcycle footage. It has a stick on swivel mount with it, no mention of this in the pre sale blurb, could have saved some money on a mount!
First impressions are good great look and feel , looks really high quality. The instructions don`t really fully explain how to open the back flap, I had to use you-tube (instruction book epic fail!)You slide the catch so it shows the white dot then slide the cover up before hinging it open.
Default settings used on the first run, thought the frame rate was ish but its not on the high setting. Connected it to pc, software loaded great, but not a clear interface , but I got there. 1080 set and out on the bike with high hopes. Loaded it on to the PC and playback stutters like hell. Consult contour who blame it on video codecs, oh really! Well how come it worked first time then? Once I had changed the settings once it never worked right again, I suspect this is a processor issue , not codecs. My wife had just bought a new laptop, windows 8, latest everything, guess what ,still flickered on play back.

What was absolutely 5 star was the way Amazon handled my return. Bravo Amazon :))

Having just bought an expensive motorbike, decided it would be a good idea to buy a Contour Roam helmet camera and, Amazon seemed to have the best offers at the time. Though not the easiest thing to fit to a motorcycle helmet, I decided to fit it with the car windscreen mount I bought at the same time. Have tried the camera fixed onto the front mudguard of the bike. Bought a 32 GB micro card and, while waiting for the delivery, used an 8 GB card, used camera with the 8 GB card for a 100 mile round trip and, when I got home, there was a little space on the card and, the battery still had life in it. Even done a 2 hour trip to London and it was still recording. The picture quality on playback is very good, once you get used the "fish eye" effect of bending when the picture is close to. When paused, it is possible to pick out number plates etc,. Main reason for buying this product was my daily use of the bike and, the frequency of motor bikes getting cut up and/or being involved in accidents when car drivers say "I DIDN'T SEE YOU" so, now I can have video evidence to produce if necessary for a claim or, to show possible fault and cause. Am very pleased with how it has worked on long and short trips, I use it nearly every day for at least four trips. Battery has had a lot of charging and micro card many reformats and seems to be receptive to my usage of it..
