Product details

Product Description

The Contour Showcase Nano V3 is an advanced hybrid, dual-layer design case with a super low profile, which merges shock-absorbing rubber and crystal-clear polycarbonate plastic to protect an Apple iPod nano 3rd generation 4.0 or 8.0 GB portable media player. It is a hinged case which closes securely with a sliding latch. The slim line belt clip can be mounted in four positions or replaced with a plug to close the attachment point. A hinged dock port protector opens partially for access to only the headphone jack or fully for additional access to the dock port and hold switch. The click wheel is protected with a play-through protector. All controls remain fully accessible.

Well made Showcase Nano V3 case 2 Feb. 2008

This case was designed in fact for the 3rd generation 4 GB and 8 GB iPod Nano by Contour Design, and designed well I might add. This dual-layer hard shell case is clear on both front (does cover the screen) and back (with a clip attachment that can be easily swiveled to remove, but locks into any position every 90 degrees, or just replaced with a slim cap that covers the clip attachment holes if not wanting to use the clip) to show off the color of your nano with black rubber bumpers that surround the outside of the case. It also has a flexible black rubber hinged cover for the lock/unlock, sync docking port, and headphone jack area, allowing easy access to them while leaving the rest of the bottom covered. The silicone scroll wheel cover can be used or removed, depending on your patience with using it to scroll through your selections. Overall, this is a great case, slim, but would need to removed to dock onto speaker docks/charging docks if you use them, though removal of this one is quite easy. Maybe the only real downside other than as with most clear cases they eventually scratch, is that the bottom portion, while protecting, does not entirely cover to keep dust out. But I would think you would be removing this case to wipe clean your iPod Nano 3G, charge or play on dock as needed anyway.
Best 3G nano case out there 26 Sept. 2008
By Shoot Me - Published on Amazon.com
Of all the 3G nano cases I've seen, this is the best.

- Removable clip is sturdy and reliable.
- Case fully protects your iPod (including screen)
- Rubber seal on bottom keeps debris out of your nano
- Sliding latch on side makes case easy to open, makes cleaning easy
- Lets your iPod's true color show through

There is a black border around this one, but there is also a clear-border version: Contour Design iSee Case for iPod nano 3G (Clear)
I think the black border version looks best with the black nano.

A couple of things to be aware of:
The placement of the clip, while practical from a design standpoint, will block the engraved text if you have a custom engraving on your iPod.

Like most iPod cases, it is not meant to be dockable - although it might dock in some circumstances. Still, you can easily access the dock connector port by opening the plug on the bottom.

The rubber plug on the bottom has two parts - one that plugs the dock connector port and one that plugs the headphone jack when headphones are not plugged in. When headphones are plugged in however (most of the time!) this is a nuisance. As a reviewer on Apple.com suggested, cut off the headphone plug part and it will no longer get in the way. So it's there if you want it, and if you don't just clip it off.

There is a click wheel protector included as well but it is useless because it doesn't stay in place and it inhibits the use of your wheel. You can throw it away. You don't need it anyway because the way the case is designed the wheel is not protruding enough to make it susceptible to damage.

So there you have it. With a slight bit of modification, the ideal iPod nano case.
Best ipod case ever! 11 Jun. 2009
By Katie - Published on Amazon.com
This ipod nano case is superbly different from most. First of all the screen is truly protected by hard clear plastic. Secondly the clip on the back is very durable and can be used to keep the ipod from falling in numerous situations. I clip it to my clothing, I clip it to my seatbelt in the car, and I clip it to my pillowcase if I might fall asleep listening. This is my second Contour with a clip. I retired the first one because after a year of use, while still protecting my ipod, the Contour looked pretty banged up including a fairly deep scratch across the screen area. My ipod however, is flawless and that of course is the reason I bought a case to begin with.
Love this case. 22 April 2009

Case is exactly as promised. Very sleek and sexy, offers great protection. I love that the clip comes off the back, and use it to wrap up the earphones as well while it is on. The slidelock on the side is convenient and makes it easy to get the nano in and out. Some dust does get in, but that is not big deal in the grand scheme as the nano is fully protected otherwise. All of my headphones and attachments (USB cables, car charger, car audio connection) connect without having to remove the case with the exception of my little portable IM3 speakers. Great product and great deal as well.
My 2nd one 2 Sept. 2012
By radiogirl85 - Published on Amazon.com
Have had mine for 6 years and it's done a great job protecting my IPod which I have dropped more times than I care to admit. I'm back for my 2nd as I have worn this one out from use (the locking mechanism). The hard plastic shell has kept my IPod well protected. The lock could be made a little more durable but that would be my only complaint.
