I looked for ages for a travel mug that's dishwasher safe (as the cleaners in my office keep putting everything in the dishwasher). According to the leaflet, the stainless steel mug is dishwasher safe, the coloured mugs are not.
At first I was a bit put off by the price, it's a lot more than I intended to pay, but I have been through three other travel mugs in past year as they keep falling apart so I figured this might be a better economy if it lasted well so I took the gamble. I am so pleased I did! I have had it a couple of months now and it is showing no wear or tear, despite being through the dishwasher nearly every day. It also seems to be very spill proof, you can turn it upside down and shake it and nothing spills. It keeps my tea hot all morning, much more effective than other mugs I have used, as other reviews had said you have to be very careful not to burn yourself for a couple of hours after you have filled it. I like it so much I bought another two for my husband and me to take camping or walking or use in the garden. All in all I am extremely happy with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone!

I had read lots of reviews of lots of travel mugs before I settled on the Contigo Autoseal. My needs are pretty easy to fill, I wanted something that would keep black filter coffee hot when I drive long distances ... it should keep the stuff hot for a couple of hours, must not leak, should fit in the cup holder of my car, and should be easy to clean.
I guess the advantage of using it with filtered coffee is that it tends to be a little cooler than water straight out of the kettle, so no burnt lip, but I can see where people are coming from ... after 2 hours in the car with my air con on (cup holders in my car are position just under the vents) my coffee was still pretty hot.
Having read a number of reviews I was concerned about the veracity of the claims ... but I have never had a problem ... I alway tip the thing upside down over the sink when I have filled up and not a drip!.
Very easy to clean, I just rinse out with warm water as soon as I get back ...
The one area where a star gets knocked off is for fit in my car ... my Audi has cup holders that come out of the dash, and to be honest, the design of the mug does not allow a very secure fit ... fine on the motorway, but you don't want to do any enthusiastic A and B road driving otherwise you will be playing catch!

This really is good. Keeps your drink hot and doesn't leak or spill.
Only issues are -
1 It can keep your drink too hot so you need to be careful (but I guess that is the point of it).
2 The first couple of sips taste a bit funny through the lid even after you've washed it, but if you leave the lid to soak in water overnight it's fine.
I'd really recommend getting one of these. Overall a fantastic mug.

Good mug but not for inside bags
This works well with one major drawback. If you put it in a bag, e.g. a rucksack, then it will leak when there is any pressure inadvertently applied to the Autoseal device. Read more
