Product Description

Review

‘This occupational health text will be welcomed by anyone involved in workplace health management. It will be of particular value to students registered on occupational health nursing programmes as the material incorporated within it mirrors the standards set by the NMC for Specialist Community Public Health Nursing programmes.

Each chapter starts with the associated learning outcomes and includes particularly useful web-based references for further reading to consolidate learning. This is likely to become a core text for occupational health nursing and associated programmes.’
– Anne Harriss, Course Director of the Occupational Health Nursing and Workplace Health Management programmes, London South Bank University, UK

This very much anticipated book has lived up to expectations. I personally particularly enjoyed and found useful the chapters on OH & Public Health and the one on epidemiology & research. Case management, rehabilitation, mental health, quality, service provision & health surveillance and much more are all well covered. This book is very current with its excellent wealth of resources and its referencing is spot on. It will be of use not just to OH practitioners of all grades from Physicians to Technicians, but it is also of great value to those working in HR, Health & Safety and other similar disciplines. I am aware that this book is being recommended as a core text in OH by one of the English Universities that runs SCPHN (OH) courses. To say this book is only good for students is a disservice. It should be read and kept to hand by every OH practitioner in the country as it contains a wealth of candid, practical and evidence based information and advice. I congratulate the editorial team and those that wrote the chapters. Buy this book!! Before you ask, I did not contribute & have no financial incentive to write this review – it is just an excellent book.

As one of the writers I now have some insight into how textbooks are put together. That aside, this is a great new resource for OH nurses and others interested in the world of Occupational Health. The handbook style is very accessible whilst covering all the essentials.
