4.0 out of 5 stars A FEEL GOOD ALBUM! 27 Aug 2012
Format:Audio CD
If you liked their last album 'Wild Young Hearts' it is likely you will like this album too. A brand new mix of tracks of different styles like on their last album, including Orchestral Soundtrack, Soul, Funk and Pop with Shingai Shoniwa' fantastic vocals.

The album opens like a movie soundtrack. Love it!
'I Want You Back' is a real 'get up and dance' number. Sounds like it's from the 80's.
Final Call' and 'Winner' are pure pop numbers. If you like pop then these songs are for you! Not the strongest tracks on the album though.
'Let The Music Play' is a feel good funk/soul number.
'Travelling Light' takes the tempo down a notch or two. A slow soul number with a marching rhythm.
'That Girl' is one of the strongest on the album with a rocking beat. Sounds like it was produced in the 50's/60's. A great soul number.
'Ragtop Car' is an acoustic pop feel good summer song.
'Never Enough' is a big anthem style song that sounds like something from the 90's and something like Annie Lennox would sing.
'Love Power' is a pure pop number with a strong beat.
'Free' is a soul/funk number'
'Star' is another of the strongest tracks on the album. Sounds like something produced in the 50's/60's.
'Contact' is a great slow soulful orchestral track closing one feel good album. Sounds like a movie soundtrack.
Out of the bonus tracks, 'Mesmerise' is the best out of the three. An uplifting soulful feel good track.

3.0 out of 5 stars The magic is fading - the rhythm has been upset 10 Oct 2012
By Barmee
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Anyone buying this album on the strength of what has gone before will be left a bit deflated.
Songs like 'Wild Young Hearts', 'Don't Upset the Rhythm' and 'Don't Give up' are simply not here.

The whole thing feels a bit, well, safe. There is nothing here to give Shingai Shoniwa's amazing voice a real test of its talents. The songs all feel like the sort of thing that 6th form students might write - pleasant but unchallenging.

There is no doubt as to the musical skills of this band ... but the evidence is not there on this album. Lots of other bands are doing this sort of thing much better.
If you are new to the Noisettes try their earlier albums before this one for a taste of what the band CAN (could?) do - those who already know the band could do worse than to try The Bellrays ('Meet the Bellrays' or most recent outing 'Black Lightning') for the sort of thrills a good voice can bring.

Here's hoping that The Noisettes rediscover their mojo soon - or at least that Shingai gets a guest vocal slot with someone like the Black Keys!

5.0 out of 5 stars Consequent 23 Sep 2013

This new album is a logical continuation if the other two albums. It's very much pop with not leaving out other influences paired with the great singer's voice. Love it!
