"Interesting and exciting.... Roger′s capacity to blAnd personal insight, conceptual thinking, frameworks and professional experience is truly impressive." —Richard Beckhard, coauthor of Changing the Essence

Product Description

I have always believed that every person’s story, told truthfully, is both compelling and universal. Consultant’s Journey affirms this. It combines the intimacy of a personal journey and the emergence of organization development as a profession. What is engaging about Roger Harrison’s story is that it documents the tension of both a person and a profession in crisis—crisis in the best sense, as a continuous search for purpose, for relevance, for some way of giving meaning to a personal life and a vocation. Roger is as unrelenting in his desire to choose a life of service in the face of his love of self-expression; autonomy, economic success, and recognition. From the Foreword by Peter Block

It should be mandatory reading for all organisational consultants. Roger Harrison is open and honest about his work and life and explores those situations where he has experienced deep learning. Consultant's Journey provides an excellent model for the sharing of personal learning - its rare to come across a book like this which describes the difficulties as well as the successes. I found it very moving, inspirational to read and could identify with many of the personal situations and dilemmas he describes. It is written with humour and humility.

Greatly enjoying Roger Harrison's "autobiography". The personal highs and lows and self-reflections about his motives and behavior over a long and distinguished career. Made me think about my own experiences as a consultant.

An author without fear! 25 Feb 2000

How great is it when we are not afraid to look at the past with honesty! The Consultants Journey is filled with warmth and realism, it reminds us that we are human and we are often at our best when we remind ourselves of this all to forgotten fact.
