My (just) 8 year old son was so very eager to get this when he saw if advertised, I bought if for him at Christmas. He started to make the chest from the instruction but asked for my help with the measurements. I found that the measurements in the instructions didn't match the pieces provided (the instruction claim that there are 19mm x 146 mm x 400 mm pieces whereas the pieces are actually 19mm x 142 mm x 395 mm) which means that the measurements given in the construction instruction need to be adjusted slighty to account for these differences. This makes it difficult for younger children.
The claim is that it is "created to look, saw and nail just like real wood, but it is designed for safety and easy for kids to use". However the material is fairly flexible so nailing pieces together isn't an easy task as it tends to bend with each hammer strike. This is especially awkward when nailing together two pieces together at 90 degrees to each other. Also pieces broke when he was sawing them
It certainly doesn't saw or nail or look like wood but it is safe and my son really did enjoy putting it together and is now a proud owner of a (slight dodgy looking!) chest
