Product Description

Product Description

For an undergraduate/graduate course in Construction Cost Analysis and Estimating offered in civil engineering, civil engineering technology, architectural engineering, and construction management programs.

Providing the very latest principles and techniques for the evaluation of construction design, this thorough guide emphasizes the importance of building strong analysis skills before proceeding to a study on estimation, and presents students with a balanced and cohesive study of the these two areas. It begins with four chapters devoted to analysis of labor, material, accounting, and forecasting, then systematically segues into the area of estimating, with in-depth discussions on how it applies to methods, work, and projects. Appropriate for a variety of teaching situations and approaches—as well as different student academic levels and backgrounds—it contains a great number of practical exercises and problems throughout to give students opportunities to absorb concepts and hone their skills, plus adds interest and insight with realistic, open-ended case studies found in every chapter. Internet exercises are provided.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good and Very Applicable, 14 Sep 2000
By Kan Phaobunjong "Kamikan" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Construction Cost Analysis and Estimating (Prentice Hall international series in civil engineering & engineering mechanics) (Paperback)
Very good book...everything is well explained. I like the inclusion of real documents shown in figures, which not only enhance the understanding and making it more practical to apply. Also have many interesting old pictures and stories relating to construction which is a nice break for the reading.

1.0 out of 5 stars Was this even Editted?, 11 Feb 2011
By Alex Pray - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Construction Cost Analysis and Estimating (Prentice Hall international series in civil engineering & engineering mechanics) (Paperback)
One of the worst textbooks I've ever used. Questions at the end of the chapters are often irrelevant and/or poorly explained. Actual quote from text "Often it is either impossible or uneconomical to manipulate reality." I urge you to not use this book if at all possible.

1.0 out of 5 stars False Advertising, 23 Sep 2005
By K. B. Cahill - Published on Amazon.com

The product was suppose to be a hardcopy book. However, upon receipt it was a softcopy book. I demand a refund for false advertising.
