Firstly, I must admit I didn't purchase this "Modern design classic" from amazon. I love Amazon and if they had it at the astounding bargain price I got this for from another very well known online retailer then they would have been first to my hard earned cash.

I paid 59.99 quid for my white Conran Audio Dock. AMAZING VALUE I think you'll agree.

Now as with all reviews, we must turn our attention to the unit itself. The design is simplistic brilliance. It stands out but is at home anywhere you place the thing. It can be the focal point in any room yet due to it's great design can sit there and not take anything away from any other room feature.

As for the unit itself, it really is a superb performer, especially at the price I paid. It's simple to use but because of no LCD display I would advise you read the simple to understand manual. Once this is done, you will have no issues navigating through the great and effective EQ setting and setting the right method of input. The unit does have an AUX-In so you can hook up a number of devices which is great.

Now to the sound, it is great!!...although it could be a little more "stereo" but this is a very minor detail as the quality of the sound is worth 5 stars alone and the loudness of the unit is nothing short of bonkers...I have read some reviews that say this unit does not go loud enough....well, I definitely can say it does and the unit would be at home at a garden party or house party...and no matter how loud it went, I heard no distortion...amazing.

Bluetooth set up, yes this unit can connect to bluetooth enabled hardware with ease and for those of you with an Apt-X Bluetooth device, you can reap the rewards of CD quality sound via Bluetooth.

Very nice sounding system without a pounding bass. This can be good or bad depending on the type of music you listen to. It's still running in at this stage. Bluetooth seems to work well. The fact that aptx is supported is great. Unfortunately, my MacBook Pro 15 has a very low range for this - and doesn't seem to stream nicely in that codec format. Any interference makes it to sound inferior than normal bluetooth codec. All in all - nice unit and compared to my Jamo 300 - it sounds much cleaner. However, if you are a bass lover - I would not recommend this. Looks superb in white. Got it for an excellent price.

Bought specifically for use with iPhone and iPad. Both facilities are excellent especially the Bluetooth connection with iPad. Very authentic and crisp sound.

Here is my cut-and-paste review of the black version, which applies equally to the white...

I'm listening to it right now with an ipod touch generation 1, and I like it so much, I just bought another one, this time in white. Fantastic sound from such a small unit. I thought I'd always bought pretty good stereos over the last 40 years, but nothing sounding this good. So much detail, so much treble, so much deep bass - but controlled, and not just a dull thud - good for downtempo beatless chill tracks with very deep synth-baselines.

On the down side, stereo is non-existent from a unit with speakers 10cm apart. And there are no 'spatialiser' settings.

There are about 6 graphic equaliser settings, but the standard one or the far right one are best. (A strip of light scrolls across the base of the unit from left to right as you change equalisations.)

Bluetooth only works from a metre or 2 away - not in a nearby room like I expected. When I use my new Mac laptop, it interferes with the music - a few drops and crackles.

I was an early adopter of "Spotify free", and I was amazed that it works via Bluetooth - I thought you had to pay for that feature, according to their website. But if you listen closely you'll hear a very faint background crackling all the time. (Maybe that goes away if you subscribe.)

Styling is also, unbelievably from Conran, a bit naff. It's that big circle that pops in and out depending on which ipod you have.

Great idea of remote slotting in on the left side - but take care, it's easy to pop it out when you pick up the system with 2 hands to move it. (No, I didn't do that, but I can see it happening.) Remote battery is a tiny flat disc (as big as 2p) so I don't think it will last too long.

I was looking for an iPod dock that would double as a speaker for my computer. I saw a few reviews of this dock, and decided to take a chance on it, partly, I have to confess, because I was seduced by the design. I needn't have worried about it being style over substance, however, because the sound quality is excellent for the size. It's really easy to use, and the remote is excellent. I generally have it on a fairly low volume, but even at loud volumes the it doesn't distort. If you really want to give the sound quality from your computer a lift, hook it up to a Fiio D3, a tremendous little DAC for around £25.
