In their time, and in our's, they were the best. Bill Monroe (the best bluegrass performer ever), Connie Francis (the best girl pop singer of the '50s and early '60s) and The Ink Spots (the best R&B pop vocal group of a generation) will each be the subject of a new greatest hits compilation in the 20th Century Masters/The Millennium Collection series, to be released October 5, ... I remember a Connie Francis country album from the 70's, this brings back a lot of memories and sounds just as good. Fantastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Connie at her best. 30 Sep 2005
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I have had the vynl version for years and it was great to be able to buy this CD and listen to it with a new clarity. I enjoy all Connie Francis music, but I have always thought she was at her best singing country and western and this album is superb.

4.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful taste of Connie Francis in Country! 11 Oct 2013
Format:Audio CD
Connie's Country is a masterly attempt to put out on compact disc some of her best forays into the field of country music, and a not to be missed release. Any fan of either Connie or country music should not miss adding this to their collection - the latter probably being very pleasantly surprised that America's pop princess of the late fifties/early sixties really can shine in gold in country. Some of her best and biggest 'hits' were country-oriented in their theme, with her earliest attempt in this genre being a duet with Marvin Rainwater on 'The Majesty of Love'. No amateur, then. The songs on this CD, however, bear scarce resemblance to those pop-tinged cuts; for the most part, the arrangements are classic ol' country with refreshingly modern twists! Not so in the case of the cuts from her first country Lp, 'Sings Country N' Western Hits', though; for the most part, despite still being enjoyable to listen to, most of the arrangements on those tracks cannot be called anything but extremely dated, and really should have been pepped up a lot more than the arrangers/conductor saw fit to do. Sticking very close to the original artists' (the songs on that Lp were all covers) interpretations of the songs was hardly doing the versatile and adventurous Connie any favours, either. But, fortunately, for the most part her spirit shines through and she can still be greatly enjoyed.

It is when tracks from her later country albums crop up, however, that one can get a real view of how at home in country Connie actually was. The arrangements and vocals on cuts from her second country album (a big charter for Connie) are wonderful and warm, with the singer becoming dynamic and attention-grabbing in another set of covers that this time she interprets each as her very own and memorable performance.
