"CONNIE & CLYDE" and what a brilliant original 1968 album title release this is.
As both the fabulous songstress Connie Francis and the great orchestra arrangements by Don Costa.
Great realistic cover photo of Connie[& an unknown MGM Records production assistant]dressed up as the infamous 1930s gangsters,
BONNIE & CLYDE[or should that be CONNIE & CLYDE]. Of course the classic 1967 gangster film
about the gun-toting couple and the other gang members, starred FAYE DUNAWAY & WARREN BEATTY in
the main two lead roles.
I have alot of admiration for the legendary Italian-American songbird that is the so wonderful
Connie Francis, a truly fantastic singer who can not only sing songs in a variety of different
music genres, but she could also sing & record songs in several different languages[nine-including in
difficult Japanese].
And now onto "CONNIE & CLYDE" this is just such an absolutely splendid album of originally twelve[12]
hit songs from the 1930s[this digitally remastered cd has a further eight[8]bonus[1964]equally superb songs-making a
total of twenty[20] classic songs. Connie herself commissioned the music & lyrics for the albums brilliant title
opener, titled of course, "CONNIE & CLYDE", being classically written for her by Bob Arthur, musical director
of The Ed Sullivan Show. The lyrics are an amusing melange of 1930s names, topics and language. As mentioned in this
cds fully detailed leaflet. ALL of these songs are so brilliantly performed by Connie and the amazing backing orchestras.
Fully representing the musical style & sound of the 1930s--a great accomplishment as Connie & co recorded these gems in 1968[bonuses 1964].
I must also mention the leaflets classic style photos of Connie & Clyde including the one where Connie is[jokingly]pointing a gun
towards her partner in crime, as Connie looks totally devine--just like a 1930s/1940s Femme Fatale from the Film Noir genre.
As a full track listing has already been provided by another reviewer & Amazon, I will finally say that this album cd is simply not to be missed,
"CONNIE & CLYDE: HIT SONGS OF THE THIRTIES[JAZZ CLUB]".
The classic "cover" photograph for "CONNIE & CLYDE" pictures Connie[with an unnamed production assistant from MGM Records],both being dressed in
fashionable 1930s style clothing, as the two reenacted the famous photo of BONNIE PARKER & CLYDE BARROW with guns, infront of a FORD MODEL B of 1932.
Connie Francis was of course signed with MGM Records from 1955 to 1969. And would go on to sell literally millions of records[world wide]of Singles,EPs,LPs.
Regards,Bill.
