Yes, it works with iOS 7.0.4 without popup apple error message (some old version purchased before 1st of Nov would have popup not compatible message), which has been confirmed by real test. However, couple of customers claimed it didn't work on iOS 7.0.3 or other iPad model. I have attached some tips for using this camera connection kit. In most of situations, problems could be solved.
1. Suggested steps to use this kit: unlock iPad -> insert SD card -> plug camera connection kit
2. Make sure insert memory card far enough, otherwise a error message will popup
3. Some large camera can be regonised when only powered by external USB hub.
4. If nothing happen, please turn lightning 180 degree, replug into iPad. Import tab will appear.
5. Does not support Fuji xD pictuer card, SDHX card and SD card more than 32G
6. Make sure your photos/videos are in a supported formats and are stored within a DCIM (Digital Camera Images) folder on your supported Card.
7. Compatible device: iPad 4, iPad air, iPad mini, new iPad mini with retina display.
Please do not hesitate to contact our customer support if you have further questions. Thank you.

The disk must be self powered, the iPad output won't run it if it is a platter type.
At present, you will only be able to download pictures in the DICM file. I believe there are hacks to allow you to access all files.
Hope this helps.
No, it only works from SD card to iPad. Also, please be advised that all the photos (JPEG, RAW) and videos (HD, MPEG-4) must be within DCIM folder. Please insert memory card into camera to format it. DCIM folder will be created automatically. On the other hand, those files which have been processed by third party soft ware can not be recognised by iPad 4/air/mini. If you want to transfer original media files to iPad, please copy those files into DCIM folder in the SD card. other files such as .doc, mp3 can be recognized by iPad. Thank you for your understanding. If you need further help, please do contact us via email@example.com
Due to limited current input (up to 100 mAh), iPad can not recognize some large USB disk and all external hard drive. Thus, our product only work with some small USB disk up to 4G. If you use USB disk to transfer photos to iPad, please ensure photos to be stored under DCIM folder (important). Otherwise, iPad can not recognise. In addition, photos which have been processed by third party software can not be recognised by iPad.

I bought one of these adapters, and I use it with an iPad Air on iOS7, it reads my SD card OK, sometimes it does pop up with an incompaible message, but press OK and it then works if not remove & re-insert the SD card and it works OK. it may well work with iOS6, but this one won't plug straight in to the iPad3 because it has a 30pin connector and this adapter has a lightning connector (8pin)
