Out of the box - Very impressive, although the transceiver is a bit cheap and nasty looking (but you can always tuck that away behind your music system/computer). The speakers look really good for the price. They're no expensive and as such you can't expect good quality speakers. There is a hiss from them when listening to very quiet music (eg classical)and when turned off they tend to emit a hum which can be heard if all is quiet in the house. I have them set to mono, with one in the kitchen and the other set on the bookcase on the landing. We recently had a little baby, so turning the volume up on the stereo so that I can hear it upstairs is not an option. These speakers have resolved this problem. If I'm wandering around the house now I can pretty much hear my music anywhere indoors. A second set would really sort me out, but I can't see me buying any more. I'm kind of satisfied with them in performance but really happy that I have my music in other parts of the house. If you can't be bothered turning them off, a word of warning: if you have a Sky gnome for example, after a while with the music off the speakers will seek a new frequency and latch on to whatever channel your Sky box is on! My TV was off but the sky box was on - Scared the *%&£ out of me! (I thought God wanted to have a chat!) Value for Money: 7/10 Looks: Speakers 9/10 transceiver 3/10. Quality of sound: 5/10. In short if you want good quality sound look somewhere else, but if you just want something to pump music in to other parts of your house these are for you. I'll keep mine, I like them enough.
