Most Helpful Customer Reviews

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful By V. WILLIAMS on 23 Jun. 2013
Two of these "Sealastic" plugs were used by an AA recovery guy who put them in my pancaked rear tyre after it collected a bolt as broad as my little finger which goes way beyond a fix by a cheaper "sticky string" or mushroom plug repair.

He said he was using them to get my tyre re-inflated so the bike could be manoeuvred in line with his ramp and to put it on my drive afterwards. The plugs went in easily enough and the tyre inflated to the running pressure of 42psi. A splash of soapy water revealed no leakage. He then confidently told me that I would be able to ride the bike to a tyre centre the next day providing I took it gently with no hefty acceleration or braking. (It was past closing time at the time of recovery). He was right, I got there without the plugs being torn out by road traction or blown out by the pressure. The tyre remained solid on arrival.

This product gets five stars not because I can boldly state that one of these plugs will last thousands of miles or as long as the tyre will on small punctures but that it was good enough to get me the 8 miles to a tyre centre stocking my brand at a time convenient to me. The fitter said that my tyre was beyond a professional repair due to the size and tearing of the hole - pole-axed in other words!

One of these kits travels with me and my bike at all times now.

A caveat: at the time of writing this review the originator of this branded product (see http://shop.tip-top.co.uk and search on "sealastic") sells it for £16.78 + postage which is better than the current £24.20 + postage. It pays to look around.

I have had two punctures (one was a screw and the other a shard of glass). On both occasions these kits have helped me get home.

I rode 10 miles after each repair (from complete flat) between 30-40Mph without an issue.

I am waiting for my bike to have its front tyre replaced and after a week of non use the tyre is still inflated.

I highly recommend this product.
