Product Description

Product Description

Spiritual seeking is usually about achieving enlightenment - but there is confusion about the true meaning of enlightenment. Spiritual seekers have come to have the idea that the enlightened or self-realized sage is a kind of perfect being, totally disciplined, entirely in control of his mind and body, removed from the daily realities of existence, to whom everyone looks for guidance and who will protect his disciples from all life's difficulties. Balsekar explains that nothing, could be further from the truth - but for many seekers this misconception is the source of complete confusion and serious suffering. Balsekar shows us how confusion can be banished by simple acceptance - accepting that whatever exists in the moment is precisely as it is supposed to be, according to the Cosmic Law that is forever beyond the conception of the human intellect. Self-realization is not about being separate from the world and other people, but being at one with everything. It means understanding that one's place in the fabric of all that exists in the moment has never been in one's control. And with this understanding comes true peace.

About the Author

Ramesh S. Balsekar is a self-realized sage whose teachings have touched thousands of seekers from around the world for over twenty years. His timeless message, his compassionate approach, his jargon-free simplicity have made him a leading teacher of Advaita, non-duality.

There are some really good parts of this book, but there are also many inconsistencies that dilute the teachings. It seems that the author can't quite make up his mind about whether or not this existence is indeed non-dual or if we are robots without free-will in a dualistic universe. If you are looking to read Balsekar at his best, I would recommend picking up his book called "Pointers from Nisargadatta" which is much clearer.

Life is simple 29 Aug 2007
By A. Lundström-Sarelin - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Reading this book is hard for the seeker (i.e., the ego): there is no free will, there is no meaning, and you are not the doer. Forget about spirituality, about seeking... Thank you Ramesh Balsekar for not offering any carrots! After reading this book there are no more questions, no more confusion. Life becomes simple with the understanding that I'm not the doer. It's like Balsekar says: "What is it that one needs in life? No guilt, no pride, no hate, no envy makes life simple. It means peace." And life goes on like it always has...

No more questions, no more doubt 20 Feb 2011
By L. Oliver - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have found Ramesh's teachings absolutely incredible. Between this book and two others of his; Consciousness Speaks and Who Cares, I have no more questions and no more doubt. Deeper Self-realization is here. Along with that came a tremendous sense of freedom, joy, and deep abiding peace. Life is essentially the same although my experience of it has changed. All seriousness has vanished. All judgment of others dropped away. I feel 100 lbs lighter! And, trust me, I am only 10 lbs. overweight. LOL You could say Ramesh's teachings in these books topped of my understanding of Truth, answered all remaining questions, which apparently triggered deeper Self realization. Gratitude abounds. I gleaned a LOT from an early chapter in this book titled, Sin and Guilt. You may feel complete after reading this one book although, if you enjoy it, my sense is you'll want to read more of his works. Enjoy! :)

Fun and enlightening to read 2 Dec 2008
By A. M. Vdheuvel-remmen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This books is written by a person with great wisom and a great sense om humor.
The fact that he stresses: you are not doing anyhting, everything is done, is very relaxing. Enjoy the ride, do whatever you please, it was all meant that way. Of course you have to abide by the laws of the society you live in now, but that was also planned. You are just the observer, not the doer. Comtemplate that, even with a beer in one hand, what have you done today that was in a unique way your own decision? The answer is: absolutely nothing. Disturbing an very enjoyable and much easier to understand than the works bis his master Nisargadataa.
