5.0 out of 5 stars utterly brilliant, 25 July 2010

(REAL NAME)
bought this book to help me with my university assignment. was really helpful and very clear. no jargon! which meant that i could understand exactly what the author was telling me. there are loads of pictures to illustrate, which was really useful to compare the photos i was using for my assignment. got a distinction for the assignment so reckon it was a pretty good reference!!! would recommend for anyone who wants to gain a good understanding of equine conformation. am sure that i will use the knowledge in this book again when i am buying horses and deciding what they are physically able to do.

definately worth buying!

4.0 out of 5 stars Conformation For The Purpose by Susan McBane, 9 Dec 2007
This book is well written and readable, as we have come to expect from Susan McBane. It does well exactly what it says on the cover which is to discuss the make, shape and performance of the horse. It is not, however, a manual on conformation and needs to be read in conjunction with a veterinary handbook showing diagrams of the skeletal and muscular structure of the horse. A glossary of the technical terms used in the book would have been helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Horse's Muscles In Motion, 12 Oct 2002
This review is from: Conformation for the Purpose (Paperback)
This book is excellent for owners and people studying horses. The diagrams are clear and consice. The information is givin in terms that every one can understand. Sara Wyche, talks you through. A facinating book which explains every day movements. Did you know there are 15, yes, 15 muscles controling the horses ears. "Givin the importance of the ear position in the horse's communication, these are obviously small muscles with a big personality."
