Sharon Swain does a good job in covering a lot of ground giving fair attention to a range of traditions and approaches. Having used the book in a small group (not all preparing for confirmation) it is clearly a fine resource for provoking discussion and thought. There is a good mix of information given, biblical references, directions for group worship and questions to follow up as individuals. The book worked very well as a resource for groups and individuals - I commend its use.

We used this as a launching point for an adult confirmation class. It is almost like reading the Daily Mail in places. Some of the assertions made by the author are enough to take one's breath away. On the plus side it brought the group together in a mass decision that this was not our version of Christianity!
