The Confident Manager: Lessons in Confidence and Communication for Successful Managers: Amazon.co.uk: Kate Atkin: Books

This was reviewed by our book club - my choice and unusual genre. It was unanimously decided that this would MAKE A BRILLIANT EDUCATIONAL BOOK IN THE NATIONAL CURRICULUM AT A LEVEL. Not only did it cleverly mix home and office life giving tips on how to balance them, but it also provided tips in a believable story that were really helpful. We all liked the 'building blocks of personal achievements to make a wall' and the story of how perseverance paid off when creating the `post it note'. I really enjoyed the book and my friends had lots of positive things to say about it. It is for anyone - not necessarily in the work place, but ANYONE WHO DEALS WITH PEOPLE - would recommend A++++++++++++++++

This book was recommended to me when I was applying for managerial jobs following a relocation. It helped me revisit and focus on skills I had - but had forgotten about! The format and style is unstressful and makes an easy read of what could be quite taxing subject matter.I strongly recommend this for new or existing managers who want to develop or refresh their practice.

If I could have, I'd have read it in one setting. It has a number of helpful hints and good advice delivered in a very informal story format. If you're familiar with Ken Blanchard's work then you'll know this is an enjoyable way to learn.
