Product Description

Product Description

This text starts by explaining what confidence is. It takes the reader step-by-step through the understanding process. The first chapters define confidence and establish whether it is a birthright or an aquired ability. The reader learns to confront his/her feelings of self-confidence in terms of how he/she feels within and how he/she projects him/herself in public - an apparently confident person may be experiencing very different emotions to the ones presented. The author introduces the idea of a circle or spectrum of confidence - one end is total confidence, the other is insecurity and fear. The confidence-building technique encourages the reader to take up their position on the spectrum and work towards full confidence. There are case histories, exercises and Confidence Booster sections throughout the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book's my closest friend!, 5 May 2003
By Melanie Baxter (Inverness.) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I had a pretty rough childhood. Because of this, I grew up with a low self-esteem and sometimes struggled to believe in myself when I needed to. However, I never realized back then just how much having a low self-esteem could sometimes really effect you. So, I decided to do something about it. After browsing in my favourite bookshop, I came across this book sitting all alone on the shelf. I was intrigued by it and decided to become its owner.

For anyone who is like me and sometimes suffers from a low self-esteem, I wish to assure you that this book is indeed an excellent start in beginning your journey to building up self-confidence and raising low self-esteem.

This book is very enjoyable to read and straight forward to understand. The book teaches you lessons and each lesson is in a chapter. First of all, you're introduced to what exactly confidence is and then it begins building you up from there in each chapter you read.

I was really amazed at every single thing I read in this book. I have learnt so many things about myself that I have failed to realize for so many years. This book not only gives you an understanding on how to build up self-confidence and raise low self-esteem. It does more than simply what it says on the cover. It also helps you to find out your true self, who you really are and how much your life really is worth living. This book has taught me how to love and respect myself more than I ever have done in my life. It tells you stories of other peoples misfortunes and how they over-came their fears and weaknessess and what they did to build their self-confidence and low self-esteem.

This book has become my best friend because many of the things I've been telling myself for so long and hurtful feelings deep inside me are all revealed inside this book and it gives you a very good explanation of them. 'The Confidence to be Yourself' is an EXCELLENT book to have in your collection! It will become your closest friend...

4.0 out of 5 stars Give it a go, 18 Sep 1999
By A Customer
As a person who has suffered low self esteem throughout my life, this book is one of the best I've read, combining real life case studies as well as practical exercises. My confidence has considerably improved by knowing that I was not abnormal in my lack of self esteem. If you are a little insecure or unsure of yourself - give this book a go.

I found this book a real inspiration and I would recommend it to anyone who is unsure of themselves, their direction or who they are. The book contains self help confidence boosters which really do help you to understand what confidence is and how you can achieve it. Dr Brian Roet is a real star!
