Product Description

Affectionate comedy featuring an ensemble of UK comedic talents, including Martin Freeman, Jessica Stevenson, Stephen Mangan, Jimmy Carr, Felicity Montagu and Alison Steadman. The film follows three couples as they duke it out to win a bridal magazine contest for 'Most Original Wedding of the Year'. Archie Heron (Vincent Franklin) and Gregory Hough (Jason Watkins) are hired to help each couple have a day they'll always remember, though they may not look back on their work with fondness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! 25 May 2006
'Confetti' is about a wedding magazine that organises a competition for the most innovative wedding. Three couples are chosen, each with a different theme: Matt and Samantha (Martin Freeman from the office and Jessica Stevenson from the royal family) who want musicals as their theme, Josef and Isabelle (Stephen Mangan from green wing and Meredith MacNeill) who are tennis enthusiasts, and Michael and Joanna (Robert Webb and Olivia Colman, both from peep show) who are both naturists. Filmed as a mockumentary, we follow the three couples in the three months leading up to the weddings, organised by the wedding planners Heron and Hough, who steal the show with their antics. With such a brilliant cast its no surprise that this film is outrageously funny, a definite must see!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great film 16 Sep 2007
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this film. It's laugh out loud funny, with some great characters.

While it now appears fashionable to berate comedians like Jimmy Carr, we thought he, and the rest of the cast were excellent.

We saw it on TV, and immediately bought the DVD. It's a mocumentary, so it shouldn't really come as a surprise that it is a bit like a documentary.

Our preferred comedy is Spaced, Man Stroke Woman, Phoenix Nights, Extras, Trailer Park Boys... If you like any of that, you'll probably like this.

3.0 out of 5 stars "Human Remains Light" 18 Oct 2006
Confetti clearly draws its inspiration from all the best british mockumentaries on TV (namely Ricky Gervais' The Office and specially Julia Davis and Rob Brydon's Human Remains), but unfortunately it lacks the bite that makes those - and also the Christopher Guest movies, like Waiting for Guffman, A Mighty Wind or The Best in Show - really funny and tragicomic slices of life. Confetti ends up being a bit shallow, a kind of Human Remains for the family entertainment crowd... The only time it tries to "shock" is by showing Olivia Colman and Robert Webb full frontally naked - and that gag eventually runs out of steam.

That said, the natural lack of bite that Debbie Isitt (the director) seems to have for this noble comedy genre is compensated by all the amazing actors she managed to gather for the film. It's an amazing who's who of the best modern british comedy, some of them with experience in the genre - like the amazing Martin Freeman, Felicity Montagu and Julia Davis - all of them at the top of their game. Confetti has very funny moments because of them, although, by the end, it's impossible not to think that this could have been a masterpiece.

It's not, but if you're a fan of the actors, it's still worth seeing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasing 13 May 2007
With an ensemble cast plucked from the likes of The Office, Green Wing, Peep Show and Spaced, not to mention Jimmy Carr, this film has everything going for it in terms of UK comedy talent. Filmed in a mockumentray style like the aforementioned Office it gives a fly on the wall view of three competing couples trying to win a house with their most imaginative weddings judged by Confetti magazine. The first hour is very good i.e. during the planning stages where conflicts are the obvious source of much comedy wrangling, however the pay-off last half hour seems a little flat and the ultimate message of the film a little weak. However, with approx. 60 minutes of extra footage fans of the cast members will be pleased and I would recommend this to anyone who likes any of the UK shows mentioned.

4.0 out of 5 stars Office-Lite 15 Mar 2007
By Johnentwistlespout VINE VOICE
I thought Confetti was a great little film. Think of it as The Office-lite especially made for girls and you won't be too disappointed. It's doesn't exactly push the envelope but all the performances are as you would expect given the number of top-of-their-game British comedians present, although a special shout out must go to the gay interior designers - Archie and Gregory - they were spot on and a constant giggle. Robert Webb and Olivia Colman spend much of the film wandering around completely starkers so hats off to them too. Basically "Confetti" ticks all the boxes necessary for a successful romcom (i.e. its consistently mildly amusing has a nice emotional end). The DVD extras include alternate endings showing each of the couples winning - it would have been a great idea if the DVD version of the film to have been interactive so the viewer could have chosen the outcome...a missed opportunity there.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bizarre but entertaining 4 April 2007
It's shot very much like a documentary about Confetti magazine, and Jimmy Carr is very good as the owner of said publication. The competition to decide wedding of the year sounds bizarre, and you can see the way it's worked through to take 3 couples who all have different ideas about a performance wedding, being joined together into a single show. The best acting comes from the tennis couple, to me portraying a situation that is much closer to reality than the others.

The film was funny, particularly with the gay wedding planners finding themselves in unusual situations and enjoying being a couple more than those getting married. Worth watching, but there was more of the naturists than I expected.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprising! 30 Oct 2006
I wasn't sure whether I would like this movie, but I absolutely loved it. A gentle British comedy centering on a magazine's competition for the most original wedding. The tennis couple have some funny moments, the musical couple play themselves hilariously like some Labour club tribute to Moulin Rouge (and watch out for the mother of the daughter - fabulously funny) whilst the naturist couple really made me laugh as, being a naturist myself, I actually do know people like them. Too, too funny. Whilst Britcom 'The Royle Family' can sleep safely in it's 'keenly observed comedy' category, this movie doesn't fail to amuse and has enough of the 'feel good' factor to make sure you do by the time the credits roll. Give it a chance - I did and I'm very pleased I did.
