Book Description

5 Dec 2007
Supermodel Lou Kipinski seems to have it all. But beauty is only skin deep - and sometimes Lou's porcelain complexion can get a bit hairy. The only thing worse than a furry fashion faux-pas? Fangs in her million-dollar smile. That's what happened six months ago, when Lou had her first outbreak. But now that she's at the height of her career she absolutely must find a cure...So what's a single werewolf gotta do?Then a sexy detective comes knocking on her door. Two women who bear an eerie resemblance to Lou have been killed - something with teeth and claws tore them apart. Is it a coincidence that the grisly murders have taken place during the same time as Lou's own outbreaks? With a killer at her heels and another outbreak just a concealer-wand's distance away, Lou is soon in a race to discover truths about her own murky past. And before it's all over she may be forced to show the world that her bark is nothing compared to her bite...

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant book 24 Nov 2008
Format:Mass Market Paperback
i had this book sitting on my shelf for over a year before i finally read it and i really enjpyed it. at first i thought it was supposed to be a standalone book but it was actually meant to be a series. unfortunately the author died before she could write any more which is obviously a big loss to the writing community as she was an amazing writer which this book proves.
It's a bout a supermodel calle lou who found out she was a werewolf on her prom night and ran away. she spends most of the book hunting for a killer and information about her past.
It's a really good read with a lot of humour and i thoroughly reccomend it to anyone who enjoys good humoured books. the only thing i was dissapointed with was that it left several loose ends which would have been tied up in a sequal which unfortunately will never be written.
but it's still worth reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy reading 23 Jun 2008
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is a good book if you like something slightly supernatural but not too full on, a little bit silly in parts and all sorts of drama queen things going on for the main character, I do want to read the next book because this is definitely not the only one it has been left too open for that. Girls book, don't know any men I think would read this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Werewolf Supermodel More Than Fluff 2 Oct 2007
By MooncatX aka Bliss Crimson - Published on
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Expecting a light fluff story, was pleasantly surprised to find a very solid and meaty adventure starring Lou, a supermodel with a secret. Or should that be secrets? Seven years ago on her prom night, Sherry, a plain and geeky girl was violently attacked by the school's handsome football star, beaten and nearly raped. That girl disappeared in a fury of rage and blood, and now in her place is gorgeous and confident Lou, New York Supermodel and closet werewolf, who is finally asking questions about who she is and why she sometimes grows fur, fangs and claws.

What catches Lou completely off guard however is a string of violent murders of women who bear an uncanny resemblence to herself, and the tough and attractive homicide cop investigating not only the murders, but her. Mix in the hot fashion photographer she's been half in love with for the past 6 years, an infuriating but sexy Private Investigator whose growing more interested in her than the case she's hired him for, and a pyscho stalker whose scent makes her literally see red...

Appears to be the first of an ongoing series, and includes a great supporting cast of characters. What I love about Lou is she is NOT a fluff brain. She's a pretty together lady with a pack of unanswered questions, plenty of guts, and a determination to get to the bottom of the mystery of why she's a werewolf and live a full and rewarding life.

I thoroughly enjoyed the read and can't wait for more books to follow.

4.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed there will be no more? 21 Dec 2007

I thought this book could be the start of a fairly promising series. I am saddened to learn of the author's death. While the book had some jarring notes and rough edges, it was entertaining, fresh and would no doubt have been a popular series for a long while to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun ride... 25 Nov 2007
By Cherie Barstow - Published on
Format:Mass Market Paperback
On the night of her senior prom, shy, awkward Shelly Billington discovers that she has the ability to shapeshift into a werewolf, particularly when she's feeling scared or threatened. Unfortunately, that was the first and only time she's fully transformed, and superjock Tom Dawson paid with his life that night. Granted he had attempted to rape her and her rage took over, but still...

Now 7 years later, having fleed that small town in Texas where it all went down, she's changed her name, her identity, and--one of the fortunate side effects of the change--her looks. She's now Lou Kinipski, successful supermodel living in a swanky high-rise in New York City. For the past 6 months however, Lou's been having strange nightmares... and strange "hairy" outbreaks that coincide with the moon's cycle. And two women who look very much like Lou have been murdered. I think her past is about to catch up with her... now!!!

I had recently read the Midnight Pleasures anthology, which included a short story by Ronda Thompson. That was my first introduction to this author and I really liked her style. I expect to eventually read her Wild Wulfs of London historical romance series, but was quite happy to find this stand-alone novel by Ms. Thompson which was just published last month. I do hope she decides to continue these characters in a series of their own as I really liked this book a lot.

I'd say it leaned more towards paranormal chick-lit, in the style of MaryJanice Davidson's Betsy Taylor series, as opposed to paranormal romance. We didn't have any sappy happily-ever romance/relationship issues. Lou's got her own real-life problems, but prefers to let the world think she's just an airhead supermodel with no brains. Her best friend Cindy is a lesbian, a makeup artist, and knew her back when she was still Shelly Billington. The many situations they get themselves into are touching, humorous, and fun. I truly enjoyed this book!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! 22 April 2008
By Deborah Wiley - Published on
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Supermodel Lou Kinipski has a problem. Oh, on the surface it looks like she has it all- beauty, a great career, and excellent taste in clothing. But Lou has some secrets, ones that would permanently end her career if anyone ever found out. Lou is a werewolf who changed her identity when she first transformed many years ago. Someone is now targeting beautiful women, women who look a lot like Lou. Will Lou be able to keep her secrets hidden when Detective Terry Shay comes looking for answers?

CONFESSIONS OF A WEREWOLF SUPERMODEL is an excellent book on so many levels. Yes, it is has many of the light-hearted Manolo Blahnik shoe moments one would expect in a chick lit tale. And yes, Lou is concerned with her appearance, particularly when odd outbreaks of fur appear, as one would expect of a supermodel. But CONFESSIONS OF A WEREWOLF SUPERMODEL is much deeper than that.

Ronda Thompson creates characters who are much more than their surface appearance would indicate. Lou Kinipski may be a supermodel now, but inside she still feels like an ugly, unwanted girl. The demons from her past haven't yet been dealt with as she ran away on prom night, not returning to face her adoptive parents or the ramifications of her actions. The juxtaposition between Lou's outside appearance and how she perceives her inner appearance adds layers to her character and keeps her from being another fluffy chick lit character. Even secondary characters, such as Cindy and Morgan, have unexpected layers.

Ronda Thompson also did a fabulous job at incorporating a high level of suspense to CONFESSIONS OF A WEREWOLF. I couldn't stop turning the pages as the twists and turns just kept coming. I am deeply saddened to know there won't be further books along this line by Ms. Thompson due to her unfortunate death. CONFESSIONS OF A SUPERMODEL is an enjoyable tale that has definitely earned a place on my keeper shelves.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fur Is In This Season 23 Nov 2007
By Rhianna Walker - Published on
Format:Mass Market Paperback
First off, let me join all those who have paid their condolences to the family of the author. I was sad to learn that she had passed away before this book was on the shelves. But she left an enjoyable story to be enjoyed now that she has passed and I hope the series could be picked up by another author if possible.

Confessions is the story of Lou Kinipski, or rather Sherry Billington... a high school senior who is assaulted on her prom night and transforms into not just a werewolf but a hottie. After her life and looks altering experience she runs away from her home in Haven, Texas. Seven years later we catch up to her, she's become Lou Kinipski, a New Yorker and supermodel of Giselle-like proportions. The trouble is, Lou is PMS-ing which means fur outbreaks and to top it off she's having nightmares. Wanting to know just why she's having trouble with the fur and fangs she has to seek out the aid of a private investigator to find out just who her birth parents are... and now her nightmares are real. Women who look much like Lou are turning up dead and the hunk investigating the murders seems like just the type of fellow to scratch Lou's itch if she can just help him solve the murders and catch the big bad wolf before he gets her first.

This book was cute and it's characters larger than life. From Lou's adorable best-friend, Cindy and her man-slut photographer crush, Stefan to the wacky rocker by night, PI by day, Morgan Kane and cop lust interest Terry. Her supporting cast is great. The story itself is a little too quick to come together for my tastes but this book was likely intended to appeal to those looking for something fluffy but paranormal. Try mixing some chick lit style with a Kitty Norville book and you have Confessions of a Werewolf Supermodel.
