Product Description

Review

`This book is intended to address the needs of the researcher who does not routinely work on the development of conducting polymers, but rather who uses these materials in their application.... Written in a very practical and useful form, the detail is sufficient to give the reader a good working knowledge ... and may perhaps generate new ideas. Being easy to read and understand, this is an experimentalist dream book ... With over 1,0000 references, practical examples, problems, and exercises, this book is an excellent reference for those working with conductive polymers or as a supplemental text in an advanced garduate course.' IEEE Electrical Insulation Magazine, 18:3 (2002)

Product Description

This book deals with the practical fundamentals and applications of conducting polymers. Written from a pedagogical point of view and at a very basic level, it provides a thorough grounding in CPs ideal for further work, as a reference, or as a supplementary course text.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent source of information by Dr. Chandrasekhar's Book, 23 July 2001
By Anton KARL - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Conducting Polymers, Fundamentals and Applications: A Practical Approach (Hardcover)
This is an absolutely excellent book. It is very well written lucid, and clear, and, astonishingly, by a single author. It has a nearly exhaustive presentation of virtually all aspects and applications of Conducting Polymers to date (2001, although the book was published in 1999). I feel it beats the competition hands down. The "competition" is two "handbooks" and assorted smaller texts which are all editor/contributor texts where an editor or group of editors has asked a number of prominent workers in the field to write individual chapters with the following result: very high-level descriptions of highly specialized research in the chapter authors' laboratories, basically a summary of the papers they have published. That is not useful to a worker in a different field, such as materials science, who needs a quick primer on Conducting Polymers, yet also wants a book that will help him/her should he/she want to go into more detail into narrower subfields within Conducting Polymers. This book fulfils that need, as the Preface in it lucidly explains. The presentation is excellent. There are two parts- Fundamentals and Applications, with the later covering virtually all envisioned applications of Conducting Polymers chapterwise. The book also has problems at the end of each chapter, so can be used as a course book. With the Nobel prizes in chemistry for the year 2000 awarded in Conducting Polymers, this book will fill a great gap created by the other, sometimes incomprehensible "handbooks" previously available for the study of Conducting Polymers. I recommend it highly.
