Conditions Remixed, a concept most alternative/rock bands don't usually consider or bother doing. Conditions is a great album all the way through, chock a block with fantastic songwriting, so I was a little tentative about ordering this 2LP vinyl set but at the time it was only @ £16 so given how quickly the Conditions vinyl sold out it was easy to take a chance on.

The opening track is great, has a bit of an "Underworld" vibe to it and if you like Underworld you may well like quite a few tracks on here. I absolutely love the first two tracks in their entirety that span SIDE A, so this side has gotten quite a few plays. Dougie's vocals at the end of Love Lost (Sister Bliss and Rollo Mix) are superbly implemented.

I always thought that Sweet Disposition would be a hard song to remix and I'm not wrong here. It's not bad by any means, but the angle it was approached just didn't work. I think more could have been done with the stem of just the guitar riff. Working over that. There is some melody lost throughout and it's one of those moments like some of the "Born Slippy" remixes where melody was really required to anchor the song.

The European pressing is really nice, very quiet vinyl. Thank you to Infectious for spreading this one out over 2LP's so it has lots of room to breathe, a great choice. The gatefold packaging is really nice too.

All in all this is a great record and I'm very happy it's in my collection. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is just because of how brilliant the original is. This has to be rated every so slightly lower, but yeah it's a cracker.

I should probably start by saying I love The Temper Trap with a passion and when I heard this album was coming out I whacked it on pre-order quicker than you can say `Temper Trap rock my socks off'! Saying that my expectations and my love of the first album may have been so high that I was left feeling a little flat by this remixed affair. The bands music is pretty upbeat and distinctive and it would take a special remix to add something worthwhile to their music and only a few here manage to carry it off. The Rolo and Sister remix of `Love Lost' is one that stands out and the remix of `Resurrection' is probably my favourite. I also enjoy the remix of `Drum Song' where lyrics have been added to the bands original instrumental track. It is briefly worth noting that the packaging is atrocious! It is a piece of folded card (not even a digi-pak) and it has one of those hideous foam CD centre holders rather than a plastic grip. There is being eco-friendly and then there is just plain annoying! That aside, this album is worth a listen if you are a huge fan and there are some great tracks on offer here, but it will never stand up to the original album (which is very strong in it's own right) and works more as a quirky add on. This is the kind of the thing you'd find packaged with the album in future re-releases.

Slightly disappointed. The variety of remixing genres is dis-pleasing. Some sound like an exercise in the production of various sound effects much like the noise you encounter from a fair ground DJ. The original album is so well written / composed, it would be hard to better and or change. Some remixed albums are great and even bring the dullest work to life. Many tracks on this album have in fact been destroyed by the deconstruction of major harmonies and related melodies to the point that only oral displeasure occurs.
Some tracks are great.
Its a shame and I wonder if any band members feel the same.

Conditions is a great album all the way through, chock a block with fantastic songwriting, so I was a little tentative about ordering this 2LP vinyl set but at the time it was £12.76 on Amazon UK which plus 3 pounds shipping worked out to @ US$25 so given how quickly the Conditions vinyl sold out it was easy to take a chance on.
