5.0 out of 5 stars WWE Films Finally Got It Right 5 April 2008
By Caleb Williams VINE VOICE
Format:Blu-ray
But even now it has its faults, the violent scenes at times become quite uncomfortable to watch and the acting is something to be desired. With these faults this film still has many plus points that make it one of the best WWE films to date. (Of the 3)

The story places Jack Riley, an ex special forces operative is caught in the wrong place at the wrong time and winds up on death row. A multi millionaire is ready to give him his break as he has a concept to place 10 Death Row convicts on an Island and let them loose on each other. They are told that there must only be one man left standing after the 30 hour time limit, or they all die. The last man standing is given his freedom and Breckel, the man with the concept will capitalise off the millions of internet subscribers who want to watch a live death tournament.
Jack Riley after being missing for over a year is seen by one of his old school friends and the FBI inform his wife, Sarah Cavanaugh. The only thing she can do is wait and watch and hope he wins the tournament because there's only one way out and that's to kill.

Along with this being a WWE film I have to say Austin was the perfect person for the lead character. He's tough, he's got an attitude and he fears nothing. For those fans of the wrestling world they will say the pure depiction of such a personality is Austin. For those who aren't familiar with Steve Austin within the wrestling world you will still come to appreciate how much of an intimidating character Steve Austin can portray. Vinnie Jones is something special as well and presents something that can be quite scary and at times make it awkward to watch.

This is a pretty mindless action movie but that's something that can gain an appreciation on its own. If you decide to forget that it's associated with the WWE I garauntee that you wont be disappointed by how fun this can be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stone Cold acting by Vinnie Jones 31 Mar 2008
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
If your looking for a storyline that will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat, then I wouldn't buy this film.
But if you just want to chill back with a cold lager and watch some frantic good old violence with Vinnie Jones and Stone Cold, then this is a film for you all right! Plenty of action, good effects, and some great lines!

4.0 out of 5 stars Condemned to superb quality! 22 Sep 2009
By Chris
Format:Blu-ray
If you like rough action films (and do not expect this one to be an oscar winning drama), this is the one to go! In the tradition of "Running Man" this flick offers an action-packed ride of big guys and cute girls fighting to death on a beautiful island. Covered in some not-so-bad-at-all-criticism of our sick media dominated world this film will entertain from beginning to end.

The picture quality plays on reference level (filmed digitally)! Just looks great!
The 7.1-High-Resolution-Audio is one of the best tracks I've listed to so far!

Recommended!

By Mark Barry HALL OF FAME TOP 50 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Blu-ray
Although it sometimes cheaper - if you're buying "The Condemned" on BLU RAY - avoid the 'US version on Lionsgate because it's REGION A LOCKED - so it won't play on our machines unless they're chipped to be 'all regions' (which few are).

Stick with the UK release - it has no playback problems and in 2014 it's also reasonably priced too...

4.0 out of 5 stars Underrated Action Film That Kicks Ass 8 Feb 2014

Blu Ray Info.

Running time 100 minutes approx, Trailers, Making of The Condemned.

Trivia.
1)Robert Mammone until recently starred as Doctor Sid Walker in Aussie soap
Home & Away.
2)Manu Bennett has had roles in Xena Warrior Princess, 3 Spartacus tv series, Arrow & Peter Jackson The Hobbit trilogy.
3)Madeleine West starred in Aussie soap Neighbours as Dionne Bliss who married Toadie & due to a car accident going over a cliff her character of Dionne is still missing presumed dead.

Review.
Jack Conrad is awaiting the death penalty in a corrupt Central American prison.

He is purchased by a wealthy reality television producer Breckel & taken to a desolate island with 9 other condemned killer's in a fight to the death a brutal reality pay per view tv show.

Conrad must battle vicious murders & bad ass convicts from around the world in order to survive with the winner being the sole survivor who then gains his or her freedom.

Timelord Thoughts.

This is a great action movie starring former Wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin.

The set up is exellent a reality show were 9 killers will fight one another until one survivor remains to gain there freedom.

Steve Austin has a certain charm to him & as we know can certainly fight & handles the action scenes well.

Vinnie Jones star's in his normal psycho lunatic role as Mcstarley again a British actor portraying a villianous role but Vinnies always good in these type of roles & is quite menacing in this film.

Robert Mammone does well as the selfish tv producer Breckel who only cares about the ratings of his reality show & how much money he will claim in pay per view subscriptions.

Format:Blu-ray
Quality:
Picture and audio quality are superb. Picture is very sharp with bright but natural colours, audio is perfect in DTS HD HR 7.1 (English). Picture size is a screen fitting 16:9 format with no bars at top and bottom.

Movie:
10 people from death row (Steve Austin, Vinnie Jones...) are chosen to fight against each other on a secret island which has cameras everywhere. This event goes online LIVE.
Raw action movie with a solid-acting Steve Austin. He is not the brutal bad guy, he plays a man who just wants to get home to his family but is willing to do whatever it takes to get there. Awesome fighting and hunting scenes with very good bloody effects.
I have seen "See No Evil" with Kane and liked it but this movie is even better.
