5.0 out of 5 stars It's the best dictionary ever. 2 Nov 2010

I've had several dictionaries and they've all been kind of iffy, to say the least! The others have had words missing here and there so frustration has been a common word. This one has them all. I'm a writer as well as a newsletter-editor so this dictionary is a must for me, as it should be for you too. I shopped around and Amazon was the best for this, making it a good deal, including free delivery. What a bargain.

3.0 out of 5 stars Its what it is 15 Nov 2009
A Good Family Dictionary, rather than an everyday at the office type dictionary.

Take off the ugly dust cover and have it on the coffee table for everyone to use.

Clear and easy to use. The Thumb holes are ok, but rest in the middle of the letter rather than at the beginning - these arn't that well cut either and feel rough. For the price i would have expected a better 'finish' . That said, it was a present for my Mom who does a lot of quizzes and stuff and was well received.

5.0 out of 5 stars Concise Oxford English Dictionary 11 April 2010
I bought this dictionary because my mini dictionary was not doing its job and I'm very happy with my buy. Every word I have looked up whilst writing my dissertation, the dictionary has provided adequate result. So 5stars all the way.

Concise Oxford English Dictionary: Luxury Edition, 11th edition, revised 2009

I bought this dictionary for my son, a budding writer, for Christmas. I was so impressed... I bought one for myself! As a student studying at degree level I have found this book invaluable. I particularly love the thumb index for easy reference and the Appendices make an interesting read in themselves. Treat yourself, if you are going to buy a dictionary, buy this one. You will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely little-big dictionary 28 Feb 2011

Came wrapped in a foil as expected for "Luxury edition". It has nice carve-outs for stickers with letters - one of mine was pasted a page sooner, but it's easy to fix it without tearing the page. I love the dictionary itself - I doubt I'll ever find a word in normal prose books I can't find in it (which happened with my bilingual dictionary of course). Dictionary is not primarily for non-native speakers, because it lacks most of the pronunciations, but that should have been expected, so no points down here. Explanations are nice and indeed concise, usage boxes are used quite often and there are some apendices about the language and words with some interesting information. All in all, I love this dictionary, especially for the price it was offered here. With packing and delivery it came to Slovakia under the price stated on the back of the book.

(If you need some lighter everyday dictionary then there is smaller paperback Oxford dictionary/thesaurus, I can fully recommend that as well in addition to this one. With thesaurus you have not only smaller version, but also bonus "function" too.)

Clear, nice size text. Thumb indents make pages easy to find. Good buy for the price which was cheaper than in high street stores.
