A Superb dictionary at a great Price!, 7 Feb 2006
This review is from: The Concise Oxford Dictionary 11th Edition (PC) (CD-ROM)
Given the superb quality of this dictionary, the price is a steal. For the average writer, this product will more than cover all of their needs (I'm discovering new features in it every day). It has quite a few useful features which I use nearly every day. Just fire up your word-processor, have the COD running in the background, and when you double-click on a word, COD will display it. Further, if you click on the head-word, the program will also pronounce it for you. Isn't that clever. Further, when you click on any word in the definition of the head-word, COD will go directly to that word. There is also a very useful guide to English useage which I find indispensible. All in all, a great product at a ridiculous price. Go ahead and buy it - you won't regret it.

Useful for its audio pronunciation, 2 July 2009
This review is from: The Concise Oxford Dictionary 11th Edition (PC) (CD-ROM)
The best thing about this dictionary is its audio pronounciation--that earns the product a place on my computer. Apart from that I was disappointed with it for two reasons, neither of which might be of concern to another user. First, I do not like the typeface, finding it a somewhat difficult to read. Increasing the size does not help. Second, the idea of using the dictionary as an "always available" program for consultation is appealing except that it takes up space on the Windows taskbar rather than hiding itself away in the system tray. A minor point, yes, but one which dissuades me from replacing my current set-up which is to use the free program WordWeb which sits in the system tray until called upon via a key-stroke. That might not be an issue for anyone else which would make the COED11 a good choice.

Highly recommended., 6 Aug 2008
This review is from: The Concise Oxford Dictionary 11th Edition (PC) (CD-ROM)
At this price the dictionary is brilliant. There are free online dictionary to use, but I don't think they compare to this brilliant tool. It's always there on the desktop available to use. It has advanced functions that I have not used yet as I am happy to use its basic function. I have been unable to think of a word that is not included. It is actually an education to randomly scroll through the words learning new amazing word that I'd never heard of before.
Highly recommended.
