As a single guy bringing up a family I found the book to be a tremendous help in every way possible covering ALL aspect of the art, from making cheese on toast to a gourmet dinner for a dinner party! Don't make the mistake that because it's 'Mrs Beetons' its all traditional because it isn't, it includes microwaving tips where relevant and pictures of what its supposed to look like when finished.
An absolute bargain for the price and full of every bit of advice you could think of or want.

We bought this book because it had a range of everyday game recipes which was larger than any of the others we looked at. I've used several different recipes from different parts of the book, most of which have come out well. I would dispute some of the cooking times given, however. Also the text is quite small when trying to follow a recipe with your hands covered in flour.
