Forget Deep Purple, Metallica et al, who merely played their rock tunes to the accompaniment of an orchestra. This is different. Yngwie (well known for composing baroque-influenced rock guitar pieces) dispenses with the rock band and writes for electric guitar and orchestra. No rock drums, no rock vocals, just the Czech Philharmonic with Yngwie as the soloist playing all his own compositions. And by God it works!
Yngwie has been on the scene for 20 years now, and you cannot criticise him for lack of dedication to his cause - he has ploughed his often lonely furrow singlemindedly, as straight as an arrow, as musical fads and fashions have come and gone around him.
As another reviewer said, this disc is appreciated equally by shred metal fans and aging classical musos; Yngwie's widdley-widdley guitar at its best, and an orchestra ranking among the international top flight. Great tunes, a great sound, what a treat!
Now that this disc is available as a normally priced release (not just as a high-priced import) I can see no reason why it should not be on the shelf of every music fan. Hopefully it will increase Yngwie's popularity and help to propel him from cult favourite to the world class musician (and showman) he undoubtedly is, and as which he deserves to be recognised.

Finally, Yngwie has recorded something that shows his influences to the full, and displays just how good he is as a guitarist.
Majestic, pompous, bombastic, and that's just Mr Malmsteen, but the music is excellent, stirring, and satisfying. I only hope he'll continue in this vein, and produce more classical music.
My mum heard this, and couldn't believe that it was a heavy metal guitarist who wrote it, and she knows her classical music.
Very recommended.

Yngwie Malmsteen shows his talent in this CD. He wrote the music for the orchestra and guitar. The guitar parts are partly taken from his previous albums and slightly changed. This album is a must for everyone who loves the music of Yngwie Malmsteen and anyone who likes classical music with a hint of modernism (the electric guitar). Really, i love this one very much and recommend it to you. In short, its fantastic, awesome, listen to it with earphones and close your eyes, let the music wash over you. Thats all, see and hear for yourself!

Imprescindible, El guitarrista sueco en pleno esplendor. Ynguie además de sus influencias de Blackmore o Hendrix....es admirador de Bach y Vivaldi. En esta grabación queda bien claro cuales son sus influencias. Genial.
