because you love it 19 Mar 2011

As in all things considered tools, and a book is a tool, this may or may not be specific to your needs. If you have some mathematical knowledge to draw on and enjoy learning more this tool would help you. If you are taking a coarse and looking for an inexpensive resource this tool will help you. If you are trying to fix the manifold on your car this will not help you. I started with Rudin and Munkres so this was not so difficult but it was an enjoyable read.

this is Weyl's famous exposition of the theory of Riemann surfaces in which the first satisfactory definition of an abstract Riemann Surface is discussed at length

I don't want to say it's a bad book 10 Oct 2010

Maybe it's excellent.

But I read its first paragraph and immediately saw that it's way beyond my understanding.

Can someone recommend a book which would prepare me for reading this one. My math knowledge includes all high school stuff, 2 years of calculus and some linear algebra.
