5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and easy to use guide, 10 Nov 2008
My Mum has struggled with her computer skills for a while now and had no interest whatsoever in attending a course. I bought her this book as a bit of a last resort and she is absolutely delighted with it. It's easy to use and practical and seems to be written in language she understands without too much jargon. Her skills have improved hugely, and more importantly in some ways it has started to re-build her confidence. An excellent and much needed guide for the older person.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant buy!, 6 Nov 2008
I bought this for my father for his birthday, to stop him from throwing the mouse out of the window in frustration. It worked! It is easy to use, has straight forward chapters on the various troubles that people come across whilst using a computer.

I recommend this book to anyone who is trying to get to grips with computing.

5.0 out of 5 stars I learnt so much from this friendly book, 9 Dec 2008
I saw this book at a friend of mine's house and he kindly lent it to me. Having read the first few chapters I realised that, in spite of having some computing knowledge, it was just the book I was looking for so I bought myself a copy and three more for other friends for Christmas.

The book is so easy to use with its spiral binding allowing it to lie open beside the keyboard. The lessons start with the very basic use of the keyboard and mouse before exploring the finer points of emailing, the Internet, word processing and digital photography. The revision quizzes at the end of each chapter help to cement one's learning and the writing avoids all technical language and acronyms. There is even advice on buying the best type of computer with the help of a knowledgeable friend or 'guardian angel'.

I cannot recommend this book too highly.
