Product Description
‘The story of a British Special Forces soldier kidnapped by the IRA…the terrorist who swears to break him…the friend who refuses to abandon him…the establishment who rejects him…’
Praise for Compromised:
"Keyte has crafted a modern day masterpiece in the style of Gerald Seymour with a touch of early Clancy thrown in."
“This writer is gifted, not talented, but gifted...I experienced emotions I have never experienced before while reading a book - my body tensed, my heart raced and my pulse soared time and again.”
“Knowledgeable, concise, and assured writing from a debut novelist...we may well be looking at a future master.”
“Derek Keyte has an absolute talent to which I am now a fan.”
Compromised is the story of a British Special Forces soldier kidnapped by the IRA in Belfast during The Irish Troubles in 1989 – the first part of the story is relentless in its pace and covers a time period of less than 12 hours focussing on the kidnapping and interrogation of the soldier. In contrast the second part of the novel covers the years that follow the kidnapping through a series of snapshots of key events affecting the principle characters against the backdrop of The Troubles, interwoven with insights into the activities of British intelligence and security agencies. The third and final part of Compromised is set in 1997 where, with the promise of a real prospect for peace looming across the whole of Ireland, there will be a final reckoning.
The Author
Derek Keyte worked alongside the military and civilian intelligence community for well over 20 years – his unique and detailed insight into the dark side of the British establishment allows him to weave this context into his stories.
Whilst all of Derek’s work is fiction and is based on his imagination and open source research, his background allows him to write the genre with a sense of pure authenticity, whilst at the same time ensuring that he meets his obligations under the Official Secrets Act.
Compromised is Derek’s debut novel and has been downloaded by over 110,000 readers.
