I purchased this book for use in one-to-one literacy lessons, with students aged 14 to 16 years with differing abilities. I have have found it to be a useful resource. The book has a range of activities that can appeal to different students and can be adapted depending on their needs and reading ages.

This new edition does not contain the much appreciated classical texts. Since we have a new breed of teens, the texts appear just as alien. I had a look at the old edition which appears to have much variety from fiction to non-fiction, poetry etc., which I find more benefitting for the students (and relevant).. defo will be buying it!

A great book with very 'teen friendly' texts - the author is a teacher and knows what other teachers want! The only negative is the price: expensive! And the answer book (you have to buy it separately) is also very expensive.

I greatly appreciated the more classical selection of texts in the old edition. Many of the texts in this edition are too trivial--probably by popular demand. If the reader is gifted or enjoys reading literature, this edition might be like a marshmallow without the added sugar.
