Decent Package, 27 Jan 2001
This review is from: Complete Works Of William Shakespeare (CD-ROM)
This is a reasonably cheap CD-Rom which contains Shakespeare's complete works. The search facility while not perfect, is nevertheless useful. The wonder of it, of course, is that you have the master's work, complete, in a tiny package and on your screen. Personally I find it addictive. Contrary to the previous review, it is possible to transfer text to word-processing packages using the copy to clipboard function in "Edit".

Little more than an electronic book., 15 Aug 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Complete Works Of William Shakespeare (CD-ROM)
There are two attractions to this product: firstly, it is very cheap (which is in itself suggestive,)and secondly, you have the whole of Shakespeare's work easily accessible at the touch of a few buttons. Allied to this, you can search for particular speeches by words: useful if you do not know in which play the phrase you are looking for is located.
That, however, is where the attractions end. You cannot save any text to disk or transfer it to a word-processing package, so that the program is useless for editing or cutting texts. Printing off chunks is possible, but it is not easy to tell the program which bits you want. Selecting text past one screen is not possible.
In sum, the program is useful if you want to do nothing more than read Shakespeare's works from a screen, but then one is surely better off with a book. If your ambitions stretch any further than that, this program will be of little use to you.
