2.0 out of 5 stars navigation issues 14 Feb 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
the works in this book are due 5 stars, however navigating to them is a problem on this kindle format. although you can access 1 book at a time via the table of contents, each book has neither chapters, nor page nos, even with updated softwear. this means that i can either read from page 1 through to page ?000, or i can read one book at a time through to the finish, then change books.
bookmarking only denotes a few pieces of work, but i couldnt know which book i was marking! the publishers seem to have allocated each book as a separate chapter, but this does not correspond to the black dots on the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen!
great works in an unnavigatable format.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Delphi bargain 10 Mar 2012
By Tony
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am becoming addicted to the amazing bargains like this one that Delphi produce. Here is the Maude translation of "War and Peace", and all the other novels, but also so much more, like Tolstoy's journal. As I get more used to using the Kindle, zipping around inside a massive collection like this becomes easier, and you get used to not knowing precisely the page you are on in a novel when you can quickly find the contents and chapter listings etc. But as well as being able to free up shelf space in my study, I also have access to all the peripheral works of Tolstoy that I would not normally think of buying, and it is so easy to browse and explore these rarer writings. Delphi do a very sincere job in making a quality product at a price that is, frankly, peanuts.

Note that if you buy directly from Delphi's website, you have access to free updates, which I don't think are as yet quite so easy to obtain from Amazon - but this may be changing so check on the latest situation!

But if it says "Delphi" on the front you can rely on really great value for money.

1.0 out of 5 stars The incomplete works of Leo Tolstoy 9 Feb 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am sure there is a wealth of great stuff here. However, I got this in order to read one specific work - a short novel called the Kreutzer Sonata (I am a musician, not a literary expert). So far as I can see using the table of contents and the search facility, it isn't there, so I'll make do with the synopsis on Wikipedia. Perhaps I should tackle War and Peace instead??

1.0 out of 5 stars Review 8 Mar 2011
By Kora
Format:Kindle Edition
This is not at all a collection of 'complete works'. Both his critical and literary works are missing. I desperately need his collected works but what's the use of buying it if it's not complete. This is not an honest description of the product.
Also, whoever publishes a large collection should take care of making sure that the Kindle reader will not get lost in such an enormous text. This Kindle book is impossible to navigate.
There is no information about a translator. And this is an extremly important and basic information. Also, on which edition the Kindle edition is based? None of this info is provided so no academic reader, including students, will benefit from this edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tolstoy the genius 1 Aug 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Tolstoy was a genius and it is wonderful to have all his works at my fingertips. The only negative comment I have is that there are a lot of typing errors. However this has failed to dent my enthusiasm for being able to have such easy access to all Tolstoys works for such a low price.

5.0 out of 5 stars take a lot to beat 10 Mar 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Being a late starter in reading such books, a fantastic authors " Leo Tolstoy ". His writing as far as my appreciation can say is great.Easy to read with a great choice of words, leaving me not to have to venture into Google for explanation. My mood while reading his work is constantly changing reflecting to the story being told. I need to read a lot more. I think more young people should read his work , they will be surprised.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent product 8 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is superb value for money. The whole has lovingly put together with many fine illustrations. There are one or two typos occasionally, but these are not off-putting. The only real snag is that, with all the books in one volume, as it were, you never seem to be making any progress insofar as the percentage markers go - and can't tell when you are nearing the end of a book.

5.0 out of 5 stars tolstoy bargain 13 Jan 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I think it's just excellent and amazing that I can have all this text for such a low price. And the company are clearly responsive to customer comments and prepared to improve things where errors creep in. I don't mind at all that there are some typos, presumably where the scanner has mis-read the original text. It is just a kind of miracle to be able to access so much of this stunning, inspiring, brilliant literature so easily and for so little cost - or shelf space! Thank you to all involved in getting this product out there. May you keep producing such gems!
