5.0 out of 5 stars A true bible for the kitchen!, 9 Mar 2006
By A Customer
This cookbook is absolutely fantastic- filled with a mixture of classic veggie recipes such as moussakas, nut roasts etc, but also bursting with opportunities to experiment and be inventive!

There is a section for basics- how to make pasta, pizza and so on, as well as a great range of sauces and condiments to bring dishes to life.

Divided into breakfasts, light meals, main meals, sauces and salds, baking and desserts, the cookbook caters for all levels of cooks- from first-timers in the kitchen, to advanced cooks catering for a dinner party!

All of the recipes are clear and easy to follow, with useful tiips for interesting variations to some dishes. The wide range of vegan recipes are clearly marked, and a great deal more are quite easily adaptable.

Aside from the diverse and interested recipes, the book is filled with pages of information about vegetarianism, cooking, and a hugely comprehensive directory of ingredients, including vegetables, nuts, fruits, spices, grains, pulses, seeds, herbs and more!

Beautifully illustrated, this concise, varied and wide-ranging cookbook is the only one you'll need for a long time!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best vegetarian cook on the planet!, 6 Sep 2006
I have been a big fan of Sarah Brown for over 20 years - even though I am not a vegetarian! The reason for this is that I enjoy food and cookery and her love of these is so clear in all her cookery books. This particular book is marvellous for both vegetarians and non-vegatarians who like a change as it covers a huge range of meal types and tastes. Her books are all easy to follow and usually without a lot of fuss or finicky ingredients. Be aware that this book is the same as "Vegetarian Bible" (which is basically the US version), but buy this version for UK. It is essential to your kitchen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous, couldn't give it up!, 27 Feb 2008
By T. Maxwell (Kent England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I've ordered quite a few veggie cookbooks lately and now that I've got this one - I won't give it up!! It's packed full of recipes and has great colour shots (helpful to see what your cooking is supposed to look like). The first 125 pages or so is all about nutrition and the different food groups. Every recipe has a breakdown - calories, protein, fat and carbohydrates.

There is such a huge variety of recipes and all of the additional information you get with this book is priceless!!
