In a time when people increasingly specialise in quite narrow areas the sheer breadth of Robert Louis Stevenson's achievements in writing are breath taking. Most people know Treasure Island, the absolute mother and father of ripping yarns. Kidnapped and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde are also well known among his novels and Travels with a Donkey in the Cevennes is perennially popular. But here in this collection are all his novels, his very readable poetry, his essays covering many subjects and his books of travels through France, the United States and the South Seas. Stevenson seems to have done enough in his life to fill several lifetimes but in fact he only lived 44 years which is maybe why there is always a youthful zest about his writing.
This wonderful collection also includes letters and biographies. It is beautifully formatted and easy to navigate right down to chapter level in the novels and travel books and to individual poems and essays. I already have Delphi Classics Thomas Hardy collection and buying this RLS collection just confirms for me that they have raised the bar when it comes to these author collections. They come up with a brilliant product and I'd recommend anyone to get into this Stevenson collection. It's a delight.

This is another great author collection from Delphi. I had previously bought two ebook collections of Stevenson: these were OK though neither of these other two collections was complete and all their content is covered by this collection from Delphi, which also includes a lot more, like plays, letters and the poetry. Formatting and indexing is done well.

Minor correction: the plays are credited to Stevenson alone but I believe that four of them were actually written jointly by Henley & Stevenson.

I've spotted only one minor obscure omission: four fragments of stories ("Henry Shovel" and others) that were included in the Tusitala Edition as "Some Unfinished Stories". But the three more substantial unfinished novels ("Great North Road", etc.) are included here.

Awesome Collection! 26 April 2011

This is probably the best collection I have on my Kindle. It really does have all Stevenson's work, not just the better known ones. There are tons of pictures and illustrations, many of which I had never seen before. It is excellently formatted and very easy to navigate. All in all a great addition to your Kindle and I'm sure I'll be buying more collections from this publisher.

P.S. Delphi Classics, if you're reading this I'd love to have collections of Howard Pyle and Frank Richard Stockton. There aren't any truly complete collections of them out there, and Pyle's illustrations shouldn't be missed!

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde......... 8 Mar 2012

One of the greatest stories ever (Jekyll & Hyde). Treasure Island was right there as well. This is an amazing collection from a writer that was totally astounded by the diversity, beauty and ugliness of life and had to tell his tales, had to get it out there.
What stories they were! His own life story was something else, very interesting. A biography is included. A great collection. All of these Delphi Kindle collections are tremendous.

There have been several film versions of Stevenson's Jekyll and Hyde story, the best in my opinion was the one with Frederick March. It was closest to Stevenson's vision and writing.
A canny collection. 16 May 2012

As a Stevenson fan, I have been looking to find a collection just like this. It is comprehensive and formatted well. I have found no errors to date. It has working links from the contents page. It features just about everything Stevenson has done including letters. There are also three biographies included on his life by other authors. Value for money. 5 stars.
