Product Description

1-CD with 32-page booklet, 28 tracks. Playing time approx. 64 mns.

For foaming-at-the-mouth rockabilly nothing will ever beat The Rock 'n' Roll Trio: Johnny Burnette (vocals, guitar), Dorsey Burnette (vocals, bass), and Paul Burlison (guitar). This collection of tracks, recorded during the trio's brief career in 1956/57, contains some of the rawest, purest rockabilly ever recorded. None of the songs was a national hit. But Train Kept A Rollin', Lonesome Train On A Lonesome Track, All By Myself, and the title track itself, every one is dynamite. Genre classics, reissued in their entirety in premium sound quality for the first time on this CD! "Rockabilly Boogie" includes a 32-page booklet featuring photos, extensive liner notes by Colin Escott, and a discography.A few rare alternate takes and family photos round out the story. As raw, primitive and exciting as rockabilly ever got. Essential!

5 star music no doubt about it. However you can get almost the same tracks on the Honey Hush compilation for about 1/3 of the price. Whichever CD you buy will be money well spent!

HASH(0x899d4e64) out of 5 stars Rockabilly At It's Best 28 Oct. 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
First I would like to start off by saying that the previous review isn't valid. This cd is anything but a big disappointment and boring. Johnny Burnette and the Rock and Roll Trio is a classic group of performers, and their young excitement is shown through with this cd. This cd is anything but boring. NOT ALL ROCKABILLY IS FAST AND UPBEAT SONGS. Some people forget that sometimes. This cd is filled with fast songs, as well as slower songs. This doesn't take away from the cd. Each rockabilly artist has their own STYLE. If everyone sounded the same, there would be no music. So yes you may go to Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, Billy Riley, or even Elvis Presley's early stuff(his "Baby Let's Play House" is stolen from the Rock and Roll Trio's "Oh Baby Babe"), and the list goes on and on...but don't forget and count out the Rock and Roll Trio. Do some research and you will find out: If there was no Rock and Roll Trio, there would be no Elvis!!

HASH(0x89b2a0fc) out of 5 stars Be careful with this! 20 Nov. 2003
By Tommigun - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This music is a rough diamond. Be careful with it and don't get hurt! My foot just pushes on the gas all the way through every time I hear "The Train Kept A-Rolling". I could barely avoid a road accident for several times :)
Absolutely great Rockabilly at its prime!
(sure I also like his later "You're 16" stuff but that's another story).
HASH(0x8aabfaec) out of 5 stars Essential Rockabilly, Good Collection 2 Aug. 2015
By J. McHenry - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
A very good selection, perhaps the best full length collection by a real Rockabilly band. Even Elvis at Sun did standards, blues, ballads and so on. This is pretty ripping hillbilly stuff song after song for at least half the run time. Get Gene Vincent's first two albums, Charlie Feathers from the '50s, Elvis at Sun, Bill Haley and this and you'll have the core recordings of first generation Rockabilly. The rest is one-offs and undeservedly obscure malt-shop cow pokes.
HASH(0x8965ef54) out of 5 stars Worth the cost. Great music. 6 Dec. 2014
