This book truly brings birdguides into the digital age.I regularly visit southern africa,and are familiar with most other bird guide books available.
Some enthusiasts might still prefer illustrated versions, that is fair enough.The images are excellent and include male, female and juvenile variations.Print and paper quality are brilliant.
I was so impressed,and with good value for money that I purchased a second copy.

I am really enjoying this guide. Essentially it is a very clear and well laid out publication. The maps are very legible and the text information is consistent. The photographs are excellent. Generally there are usually two or more photographs of each species. It is a pleasure to read and provides a different perspective from the many admittedly high quality Southern African guides which rely on artwork, rather than photographs. Ian Sinclair (who is one of Africa's foremost field birders and who incidentally originates from Northern Ireland) and Peter Ryan have done a really excellent job with this Guide. Highly Recommended. Buy it!
