5.0 out of 5 stars Comics won't get any better 26 Feb 2014
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
As years go by, I grow still more fond of Charles M. Schulz' "Peanuts". Many of today's comics are just that, comic, meaning funny.Sometimes they try to be funny -- but "Peanuts" had the full package. Sometimes the strip is just silly, sometimes it's very serious, and behind the comics stands a man who don't hesitate to quote from the Bible or from Shakespeare. Schulz didn't talk or write or draw down to the audience. This is volume 20 in a series of 25, covering every strip from all the years --. how impressing these strips are. Here is a daily comic, who have been going on and on and on for 40 years, and it still seems new. Other writers of comic strips have something to learn here.

The book arrived well within time and in excellent condition. I am a Peanuts fan and a collector of this series of books. This also explains the 5 star rating, since this is an excellent series for permanent possession and display.

5.0 out of 5 stars Significant release for Peanuts fans 3 Oct 2013
By John Gentile - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
For those who have been collecting Peanuts strips over the years, you may have noticed that most of the 1990 strips
were never printed in a book before. The Peanuts paperbacks switched publishers, and 1990 comics never saw publication. Now they are here, for the first time in 23 years. Snoopy serving jury duty, Pigpen running for class
President, Charlie Brown falling in love with Peggy Jean. While Schulz's best work was clearly behind him, there is
still much to like here. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterwork 30 Nov 2013
By Timothy Haugh - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Every six months or so, another volume of Peanuts strips arrives in my mailbox. It never fails to provide a few days of joy and nostalgia as I once again immerse myself in Schulz’s masterwork.

Sustaining a work like this for fifty years and keeping it at such high quality is an amazing achievement. Shifts in focus over the years are inevitable, but my interest level always remains high. I felt that Peppermint Patty and Marcie became more prominent in this time period, particularly Marcie. It was like she became a more rounded character as she moved between Patty and Charlie Brown. It’s also hard to ignore Charlie Brown’s success in getting a girlfriend for a time, even if she does think his name is Brownie Charles.

With this 20th volume of Peanuts comic strips, we are left with only five volumes to go. Having come so far, I can only say again how much I’ve enjoyed this series and how much I look forward to the next volume in the series. I’m already starting to dread when there will be no more books left to arrive in my mailbox.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like rolling in a pile fall leaves with friends. 31 Oct 2013
By Robert Busko - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
The Complete Peanuts, 1989-1990 is filled with the gang bound up in romance. Charlie Brown falls for Peggy Jean and is filled with clumsy angst from the beginning. Snoopy's long lost brother Olaf appears. Marcie makes life miserable for Peppermint Patty when she heads to summer camp with Charlie Brown.

Charles Schulz continues to be original even at the beginning of the last full decade of the Peanuts experience. New story lines seem to appear from nowhere. The seemingly never ending source of material is still fresh and the bounty goes forward.

I highly recommend.

Peace to all.
