I pre ordered this book and it was well worth the wait. The chapters are clear and comprehensive and provide great tips for styling and shooting everything from food, portraits, interiors, gardens, action, gigs and products. Having owned a number of photography books and publications I think this book fills a gap and covers areas which I haven't seen covered before in such detail. The early chapters cater for the beginner to intermediate levels teaching you the processes and legalities of booking locations and models along with how to meet your clients needs. The core of the book breaks down each photographic discipline (Food, products, portraits etc) and shows you how to approach these subjects to achieve images worthy of publishing along with how to set up different lighting scenarios to recreate some of the photos in the book. This alone is worth the money as it gives you an insight into how the pros do it, something you would normally have to pay big money for on training courses. The book finishes with some photoshop techniques to give your images that magazine "punch". I would reccommend this book to all levels but mainly Beginners to Intermediates who are looking at shooting commercial work as it will give you a big head start and won't leave your head spinning as the descriptions are clear and easy to understand. Writen by two of the industries best photographers and writers, the images are inspiration in themselves and I will definately be looking out for future publications. 5 Stars!

Great book 25 Jan 2011

Format:Paperback
This is a fantastic book written by professionals who definitely know about their chosen field in detail.
Its packed full of information, examples and clear descriptions of all the subjects covered.
Examples also include budget and pro setups, so even if you don't own all the equipment listed in the pro setup you could try the budget approach.
There are also a number of interviews with other photographers, giving an alternate take and view of the subject, which is a good touch rounding the book nicely.
Thoroughly recommended.

Well worth the money! 12 Sep 2011
Format:Paperback
I have seen Brett's work before (photography wise) so thought this should be a good bet. I wasn't wrong, it's not all about shooting people, but every aspect of a photo shoot from indoors to outdoors, from models to cars, from prep to post with suggested setups and tips & tricks. Certainly a book you can dip back into before you go on a specific assignment just so you can recap on a few pointers. Any book which can give you a few extra pointers in the right direction will pay for itself on your first assignment (or second, third), and this is one of those books.
