What a wonderful collection of timeless music. What you get here are 192 number one songs from all the worldwide charts imaginable including US R&B and US Country plus 10 original songs that hit the top with cover versions - e.g, Wherever I lay my hat; Dancing in the street; This old heart of mine; You've made me so very happy; What becomes of the brokenhearted; etc.
The concept is quite simple, if the song didn't make the top, it doesn't make the collection of 10 top notch CD's, magnificently presented in 5 digipacks which fit perfectly into a solid replica of Motown's Detroit headquarters together with a 100 page richly coloured booklet listing all the songs and their achievements. There are obviously some lesser known tracks and some top quality Motown tracks missing because they didn't achieve the qualifying mark, but you do get all the number ones in strict chronological order from The Miracles 'Shop Around' (January 1961) to Erykah Badu's 'Bag Lady' (October 2000). The collection was released in late 2008 as part of Motown's 50th Anniversary celebrations and is a must buy for anybody interested in the Motown catalogue. Of the 202 tracks, the main contributions, not surprisingly are from Stevie Wonder (29 titles), The Temptations (18), Marvin Gaye, solo (12), Lionel Richie, solo (12), Diana Ross and the Supremes (12), Diana Ross, solo (11), The Commodores (9), The Jackson 5 (8), Smokey Robinson, solo and with The Miracles (8), Boyz II Men (7), Michael Jackson (5) and Rick James (5). Add to these, essential contributions from The Four Tops, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Martha and the Vandellas, Mary Wells, Junior Walker and the All Stars, and Jimmy and David Ruffin and you can see the quality that you are getting. This is a top quality, limited edition package at a very reasonable price. Buy it while it is available. You won't be sorry.

Oh to be a miniature person and walk these hallowed halls of the clapboard villa that became Hitsville and home of the timeless Motown! Listen closely and you can almost hear the sharp stillettos of Diane Ross as she crosses the snakepit recording studio to sing STOP IN THE NAME OF LOVE. It's the sound of a marching Motown on the heady road to success. What a collection of Motown hits! Too many to choose favourites. Superb presentation. Superb acquisition for a long-time Motowner. Buy it!!

I have to say that this collection of number one smash hit's has to be one of my favourite buys of all time as it really takes me back to a time when music had real soul, unlike some of todays hit's which will come & go & most likely be forgotten in the years to come. The songs in this album will always be timeless & make any party an instant smash hit. So if your a person who loves music to dance or sing along to buy it now I can assure you that you will not regret it. The songs will really make any party's swing along, so sing, dance, or just tap your feet to the beat or if maybe just sitting back & just listening is your thing, your life will be that much the better for buying this album.Motown: The Complete No. 1's
