Product Description

Product Description

Medical tourism is one of the fastest-growing businesses on earth. With the rising price of treatment in the UK and long waiting lists, there's never been a better time to combine a trip abroad with a treatment. Plus many other countries have not been affected by the deadly MRSA bug in the same way that the UK has - another reason why going outside the UK is an attractive option. Hospitals overseas are clean, well-staffed and the food is great. What more could you ask for? Nothing - except the guide to know where to go - and here it is. The first section of the book deals with the different types of medical procedures and at the end of each is a cross-reference to countries listed in part two. There are 24 countries you can visit which will give you the help you need at a price that can't be matched in the UK.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST read for anyone waiting for NHS Treatment!!!, 8 May 2006
By
This review is from: The Complete Medical Tourist (Paperback)
If you, or anyone in your family is stuck waiting on the NHS for surgery then I can highly recommend this book to you. It covers absolutely everything you need to know about getting medical treatment abroad fast and without breaking the bank. It is also one of those rare medical books that you can actually read cover to cover - this isn't just a reference book. If you are like me then you probably know several people who have managed to contract MRSA whilst in an NHS Hospital for something quite routine. I'd sooner avoid that at all costs. Any alternative to super long NHS Queues and high cost private healthcare also has to be a winner. If you can get better treatment, throw in a holiday and a tan and STILL come back with change then you can't go wrong!

The book doesn't just cover NHS treatment alternatives but also plastic surgery etc. So if you want a new nose and a new hip then then here it is! Fantastic!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good to know there are alternatives., 13 May 2006

Saw an article about this book in the paper and so went and I bought it there and then. It has just arrived and it is just what the doctor ordered. My wife had her hip done privately in the UK and she still can't walk very far and I just don't trust the NHS so I am taking this authors advice on going abroad! I wonder what this kind of tourism will do to the NHS? I hope it shakes it up!

4.0 out of 5 stars Just what me and my girlfriend were looking for!, 13 May 2006

My girlfriend and I have been thinking about getting our noses straightened and teeth whitened together as a sort of present to each other before we get married (for the photos) but the cost has always put us off the idea. Stumbled across this book in a bookstore and it is exactly what we need! My girlfriend is planning a trip somewhere nice and hot now so we can get a tan too!
