not very impressed 10 Aug 2010

Format:Hardcover
This is a nice looking book with some lovely looking projects to make but no step-by-step pictures. Each project just shows a picture of the finished item from only 1 angle and then on the instructions page shows only the very same picture again. It is virtually impossible to follow only the written instructions. You can't always see how items are assembled and joined from just 1 photo. Each technique is shown in separate sections of the book but this isn't enough to be able to work through a project. The author runs leatherwork courses, so maybe this is a tactic to get people to take the course because they can't fathom it from the book!

I expected an in depth, detailed book and was quite disappointed. Good book for a beginner to leather work. perhaps the title should be changed to reflect the content. If your a novice leather work enthusiast give this a try. It'll have some helpful info and some easy beginner projects.

Most excellent! Just what I need to be making leather things and have started making one of them already. The part at the back showing suppliers is really useful to get going. Will be able to use the information to design my own things and know how to make them properly.
