If you know nothing about the Mediterranean diet, then this book does a pretty good job explaining it. And the recipes are great! However, if you already know the advantages of the diet, fully half of the book is spent on the explanation, which means fewer great recipes. One thing I did like is the section with sample menus.

You can't argue with success and there are entire countries of people already dining on the Mediterranean Diet who have a zest for life and energy level that is missing from far too many in America.

The Complete Idiot's Guide to The Mediterranean Diet is a simple and comprehensive guide to incorporating this healthy yet delicious way of dining into everyday meals. Authors Tessmer and Green do an excellent job in the first two-thirds of the book explaining how this style of eating works and the fabuluous foods that are essential parts of The Mediterranean Diet such as olive oil, walnuts, and seasonal fruits and vegetables. The last one-third offers a nice array of easy to prepare recipes in every category, including desserts.

"The Complete Idiot's Guide to The Mediterranean Diet" is an easy guide to making your meals throughout 2011 more fun, flavorful and healthy!

This book is an excellent source of information on the Mediterranean Diet. The book provides a succinct yet thorough review of what the diet is, what component foods make it up, why it is healthy and how you can start to incorporate it into your own diet. The recipes provided in the last section of the book are easy to follow and provide a variety of delicious meals. Highly recommended!
